Jayco Eagle HT 29.5BHDS - AC Cool Down Issues

For those of you that have the Jayco Eagle HT 29.5DBHS how do you rate the AC? I recently purchased one off the lot with a 12.5K BTU AC (30 amp) and it really struggled to keep the trailer cool this past weekend. Granted the temps were high 80's and we had no shade but do others have the same issue? Does the 15K really make that big of difference?

Does your trailer have the option for a second air conditioner unit over the bedroom?
I know I could add one to my trailer if I wanted.

I am not sure. I only have the 30 amp service so i believe not. I know the 50 amp option is prep'd for the front AC.

I have a 2016 29.5 BHDS and this weekend was our 2nd trip. Coming from a TT to a 5th wheel, I thought the AC was sufficient. It hit 92 in NH, and it was very comfortable. I did upgrade to a digital thermostat, so it is much more accurate than the manual ones, so maybe that helped too. I have the 15k AC, and I am wired for a second if needed.

The answer is no...I am out here in Phoenix right now and we run both units in the day and just one at night. One unit will not cut it in the South...but maybe up north????

We were in the mid 80's last weekend in Northern Michigan. We have 15k a.c. And dual pane Windows. My last 5th 13.5 a.c. Would never shut off in those conditions. Current unit ran a lot and would sit off for a while in between runs, but kept it comfortable.

IMO, 12.5k as the main unit does not do a good job at cooling down the rig. We have a 15k main AC, and even with that, it still takes over an hour to cool down the living room. We also upgraded the temp controller to a digital one, which came in handy to maintain our trailers temps

It's going to be 100 degrees at home this weekend, I'm tempted to take the trailer home and see how well the AC works in the late afternoon... problem is I don't have a 30A or better outlet for it, so I'd have to run it on the generators... LOL! Neighbors would raise some eyebrows at that...

My trailer has the 15k AC. Its always been plenty camping around Tennessee. We went to Florida about a month ago and the AC ran constant through the day. It did keep it cool enough though.

If you're planning to bring your rig home often, it might be a good idea (in the future) to have at least a 30-amp outlet installed. We had an electrician installed one for us last year, and it has been a blessing. Although our new rig needs 50-amps, the 30amp + a dog bone worked great.

TIP. your thermostat should have a fan setting that is "auto" and on, high, low. Turn it to on, high and it will keep the air circulating helping keep you cool in between cooling cycles.
