Jayco Eagle HT 30.5MBOK

We are considering a 2017 Jayco Eagle HT 30.5 MBOK. Can anyone comment on the air and heat conditions on the middle bunk room? With the room being able to be closed off, we are curious if it gets too hot or cold in that room. We would also value any other comments on the 30.5 MBOK. Thanks in advance for any feedback.

I can't speak for the floor plan, but be sure to get the 2nd AC unit!!

I have a 2016 355MBQS which is similar in layout, just a little longer.
As stated, get the 2nd AC unit and then check all vents for a good seal so the cold air isn't blowing in the roof cavity.
The bunk room has one AC vent and one heat vent.
We find the one heat vent to do the job.
The one AC vent works, but with the door closed, it will get a little hotter than the rest of the unit.
I put a vent in above the door at the roof line to allow more airflow with the door closed. That has helped a lot.

We're considering one too. Auto leveling, 16" tires and upgraded A/Cs(w/50A) are definitely on the list of options we would get.
rsday75, you put in another A/C vent, or roof vent?

I put a vent in above the door to the room, through the wall to allow ventilation when the bunk room door is closed. Works great.

I do have the second AC, and the insulated windows.

Sitting at James Island in Charleston right now. 92 degrees on the thermometer, and the ACs are able to cycle. 72-73 inside.

Do you have a picture of it? I assume it's working like a louvered door installed at the top/bottom of a stairwell.

It might not matter for us. We routinely freeze the kids out.

We’re also looking at the 29.5BHOK and 30.5MBOK. Due to the smaller size, we are leaning towards the 29.5. I also don’t know how to feel about how the bunks are layed out on the 30.5. It seems like there isn’t much space.

We like that one too, but there isn't enough living space for the 7 of us. I know you are camping, but we've been trapped inside on snow/rain days before. We like the 29.5FBDS(let the kids have the short ceiling), but being locked in one end of the rig while a teenage girl is in the shower is a non-starter.

I do like the nice living room area of the MBOK, but i'll just be locking my kids in the bunk room of our BHOK when it rains. I won't be out camping when it snows, lol.

I never expect to be camping when it snows, but unfortunately it happens when you live/camp at high elevation. We got a couple inches the second week of June last year. It was gone by the afternoon, and 72 the next day.

Here is the vent above the door I put in. It is also import to seal the vent for the furnace in that room off until you need heat, or you will get a lot of heat from the basement into the room, especially if you leave the basement open to watch TV outside and such.

We found the kids didn't want to just sit in the bunk room.
Yes, it is smaller, but other floor plans waste 1/3 of your living space for the kids beds. We found that to not be the best used of camper length.

Agreed, they do take up quite a bit of room. For us the outdoor kitchen was the deciding factor, no comparison between bhok and mbok there.

FBDS is an ideal floor plan with the bed slide out at the rear. Unfortunately, the Fireplace is not offered with that model and it’s a requirement for the wife, so that’s a no go for us!

It's funny where people gravitate for options. The outside kitchen in the MBOK is useless. That's fine with us, because we do all our outside cooking on a 3-burner CampChef or in Dutch ovens. We'd rather not have it, since a sink is the only thing that would make it useful. I figure I can strip it and have another good storage compartment.

My wife said, "Forget that stupid fireplace, and give me the storage ". We dry camp for about 2/3 of our trips, so we wouldn't be able to use it much anyway.

LOL different people want different things. We really dislike the fake fireplaces and opted for storage space. Oh, and we don't have kids or grandkids. The bunk area is used for a craft room and some storage.

I also do not use the outside kitchen, except, the outside refer is perfect for keeping beverages cold. Makes the inside refrigerator plenty big enough for full time living. And, yes, the rest of the outdoor kitchen is a great storage area.

Crazy that you chose the bunkhouse model with no kids or grandkids. I would think you would've chosen an opulent living room model. I really wanted a nicer living area, but it wasn't practical for us.

Same here. As soon as the kids are gone(the youngest is 5), we're done with bunkhouses.
