Jayco Pinnacle 35LKTS Order

We are considering ordering a 2012 Jayco Pinnacle 35LKTS.

What options do you feel are must haves? Ones to avoid?

Sleep Comfort bed over the stock mattress? Probably not

Fireplace? Probably not

Central Vac? Yes

30" Convection Microwave? Yes

12 cu ft double door fridge? Yes

In & Out 22" TV? Undecided. Would like brackets installed in bedroom and jacks, but would like to choose my own aftermarket TV.

4 Point Leveling system? Yes, but would rather have a Bigfoot

Key Fob Remote? Yes

Satellite kit? No, but would like separate cable and sat connections.

2nd AC in bedroom? Definitely yes in Texas

Kitchen Power Vent? Probably, but undecided

Mor/ryde Pin Box? Yes

Generator prep? Yes

5500 Watt generator? No if it's propane. Yes if I can get a 6,000 Watt diesel

Thermal Pane Windows? Yes. I regret I did not get that on my current trailer.

Slide awnings with metal wraps? Yes

Bike Rack/Cargo tray? Undecided

Outside Grill? No

Saddle leather? Appealing, but is it worth $4,000?

Premium Paint? Maybe, if there are no decals. Decals don't hold up well in the Texas sun

Will they upgrade the Mor/ryde 3000 suspension to the 4000? I hope so.

Advice appreciated.

Thanks,

Russell

Hello Doc! I see you have begun the search. Welcome to the forum.

One thing I would assure is to specify a low profile AC on the front. Mine is a standard height and it adds a few inches to the overall trailer height, which will be important with a fifth wheel.

Digital thermostats are standard on the 2012 and up.

I have been pleased with the slide out bike rack in 6 months of use.

Getting used to the door being by the edge of the slide out will be an adjustment.

Thanks Norty!

According the the Jayco literature, the front AC option is a 13.5K low profile.

I'd rather have a 15K and add a few inches of height. It gets hot down here.

I suspect, the low profile is the only option they will offer.

I would rethink the fireplace...we ordered that with our 36kpts.

We did not want to spend an extra 7k+ for paint but that is just us.

Other than that you have things thought out good and good luck on deciding.

Agree, we were not high on it but have found we really like it. There is so much storage inside that you don't miss the loss of a little space. It puts out enough heat that we have not used the Vornados as much.

Mine came with a 13.5, but not the low profile model. We have not camped in the 100's yet but it does a good job so far.

I believe you want to keep your rig below 13'6" as I think that is the minimum clearance on highways. The front air conditioner on my Eagle puts me at 13'4" and I have had height issues in certain towns as well as with trees in many places. I took down a 3" branch while backing down my son's street. No damage but hearing that klunk as the branch hit the roof of my truck was not pleasant. A fiver adds a whole new dimension (height) to RVing when your used to a TT.

Odd that. I thought Fed regs required generators to run on the same fuel the vehicle already has (but, then again, maybe not). Unless it is a toy hauler with a fuel station, that would mean a fiver's generator would have to be propane powered.

Our Pinnacle came generator preped from the factory.

It has the automatic transfer switch, remote start with hour meter inside and a Unleaded Gasoline Fuel Tank mounted beside the Generator box up front.

Obviously I'm wrong then.

The one I have is the stock option that Jayco offers. I think it was $421. It slides under the frame when not used and is secured with 2 latch pins. It can be used for other things besides bikes. I do not know if it can be purchased separately but it is a bolt on to the frame in 4 locations.

Here a couple of shots of mine. First one in the stowed position ( the support bar goes down and the whole unit latches in place a few more inches in) and another in the out position.

Thanks, thats the same carrier I got on mine, I was thinking you had something different. Thanks for the response. I put 2 2x4 in the bracket and tied them together with some 1 bys, so i can have more places to tie the bike together,

Sounds like a good idea. I have been using a combination of ratchet straps over the wheels left and right to secure the bikes . I only carry two, and they have stayed in place over many of road miles.

Russ,

Our 36REQS just came out of the factory and should be delivered to the west coast sometime next week. We opted to not order the fireplace. Seems expensive for what it is and we could use the extra storage space for my kids stuff (they'll be sleeping there). Went for the thermopane windows, pin box and bike rack as well. Also decided to not order the bedroom tv. My plan is to upgrade the 22" tv we have on our kitchen wall (in the house) to a 26" tv....and then use the older one in the camper. Hopefully I won't hack up the trailer walls too badly trying to mount the bracket. I'll try to post a pic of the fireplace-less living room in a few weeks. During all my web research/shopping, I have never seen any Pinnacles without the fireplace.

Cheers,
Rich

Rich,

We bought out Pinnacle "off the lot", it is well equiped with the Mor Ryde Pin Box, Thermopane Windows, Central Vac, Convection Micro, 12 CF Refig, Bedroom TV, 2nd A/C, Slide Out Awnings, Key Fob Remote, Generator Prep but it does not have a Fireplace.

I agree, the first Pinnacle I had seen without a Fireplace.

We have plenty of storage space and DW wants a Fireplace so we just bought a Dimplex Fireplace and will install it in a few weeks.

My theory is "If Mama is Happy, Everybody is Happy" !!!!! :mickey:

get the generator regardless of fuel type ;when I bought gas was all that they offered in 2010 . It will never be cheaper than when included in the entire deal .Why get prep unless getting generator which onan after market is 5,ooo.oo + and install labor. When factory installed everything works and 2 year warranty applies.
