License Plate Mounting?

So, we've had our 5th for two seasons now, and it wasn't until another thread reminded me that I've remembered to ask this:

What do you guys do to "properly" mount a license plate? My dealer just kind of shrugged when we got it. The 5th has two plastic tabs on the rear, but the slots are not holes for bolts like on a car, and there is no mounting frame like on a car. Just the tabs.
I just zip tied the plate to the tabs, and then used double stick tape to hold it down to the skin of the 5th, so it wouldn't flap around.

Has held for 11,000 miles and two summers.

But maybe it's time to do something more professional, before I loose the plate somewhere along the road.

Suggestions?

You can buy "regular" license plate bolts at Walmart or automotive supply store and use them to attach the plates to the tabs.

The STATE DOT rules require the REAR LICENSE PLATE to be lighted during night when you have your truck lights ON. The DOT STATE INSPECTION here would catch that in a heart beat haha...

My license plate bracket is part of the drivers side rear STOP LIGHT assembly that looks something like this google photo. When the trailer lights are ON it shins a light down over the license plate.

You should be able to get something to work for you from any auto parts store or Etrailer/Amazon online.

I cut the tabs off and then applied some dabs of siclone to water proof the holes and then I screwed it direct to the RV under the light. No flapping etc.

Here's a picture from a dealers web site that illustrates how it comes in it's natural state.
I find it odd that Jayco leaves it up to the customer to figure out a way to deal with a license plate on their own....

The two tabs under the right taillight are for the license plate. You have to furnish the bolts.

+1 That's how mine is done. Dealer put it on for me before I towed it home, I promptly removed his "advertising" license plate surround and reinstalled. That was over a year ago, and no problems.

Also if you are curious I pushed the bolts in from behind so the nut is on the plate and the smith top of the bolt is behind. This makes it easier to remove should I have to, and it also helps prevent the screw/nut from rubbing against the trailer.
