I had an eight year old LP gas alarm that started going off for no apparent reason. I even shut the gas off at the tanks, aired the RV out for over an hour with a massive squirrel-cage whole house fan blower, reset the alarm several times, and it still kept going off.

I replaced it and had no problems with it after that. Sometimes just age alone makes them need replacement.

I just got home from a 5 day camping trip and I checked the gas detector while I was at the campground and the expiry date was illegible, but the manufacture date was still there... May 1998, safe to assume it is done.

This happened on the 1st of 6 nights , I wouldn't let him use the Axe spray any more and it didn't happen any other night.
Well ours went off again night before last for no apparent reason at all so I disconnected the power supply I'm done with it. Everybody else in the seasonal site section of the campground has done the same.

Our propane sensor went off and after the third time we found that a knob on the range had been bumped slightly on when the stove was wiped down after dinner. Propane is heavy and goes straight to the floor.

What kind of dog food emits that gas you refer to ? The reason I ask is that our dog eats Ol' Roy brand soft beef & cheese, and her dish is directly under the LP gas alarm, and it has never gone off. Also did not know that there is an expiration date on the alarm - our trailer is a 2004, we are second owners, and it probably has never been replaced. Green light is on, but maybe that doesn't mean much.
