Main Awning

How many have this wrinkling awning problem? My awning has major wrinkles where the heavier awning protection material is sewn to the awning. I had an awning guy who is carefree certified come to my site and said Jayco/carefree needs to replace it. He has seen this before and said the material will fail way early where all the wrinkles are when fully rolled up. I called carefree and awning part number for material is a one year warranty. There heavier material is a ten year warranty. I have sent emails and pics to Jayco to document for future repair along with my roof.

Must of bunched up during the stitching. You'd of thought someone from Carefree, Jayco or the dealer would of seen this. That's putting strain on the stitching and I agree that it will fail prematurely. Not to mention it's not attractive. I'd push for it to get replaced now. Wish ya luck. Hopefully they do the right thing.

It was smooth for the first year. The tech said the stitching material shrunk causing this.

Should be covered under the Jayco 2 year warranty.

Great. I wouldn't want my awning looking like that wether it effected the lifespan or not.

You mention your roof, whats going on with it?

It may be a good thing. My original awning on the 2016 was like heat sealed on the house side that was coming apart. The 2nd and 3rd awning I received are now double stitched there. So it appears they are trying to improve them. That's a plus I think. The only problem with the 2nd one was they stitch a hard plastic led track to it now and it was damaged by not being handle properly.

Just, like, WTH happened there?! And what are they going to do to fix it? Hope that it's a full roof replacement and not some scabby patch job!

What rig is this on?

The Luann is lifting up than lays flat than lifts again( I guess temp and humidity. You can see in one pic it is like a ridge running front to back. Got a few staple holes and the TPO pulled out from side molding. It will be a new roof and Luann re done. The day I picked it up I showed the dealer a small spot and u know the saying (that is normal). It has grown the full length now. Had to be bad glue or a new worker cause I know of another two that were built with mine that have it to.

I'm going to have to check on mine. I've got some ridges that run left to right, that I thought were truss lines, but they feel like seams, and it feels like spots where the deck seams didn't line up with trusses. Time will tell...

Those are the roof seams. I also have them and several with small gaps between the roof material. I think that is done so when all the flexing on our wonderful highways happen the sections do not hit and rub and maybe lift up. Mine is a Luann glue staple problem. You will have wrinkles since our roofs are not flat and that is fine since it will never cause a problem. I see this on aircraft tank sealants where one tube is fine and another does not adhere well. My unit does really seem to be put together pretty good but the glue on the roof did not do what it was to do. Once it lifts the Luann and the stapes come up u have a problem. I have been living in my unit a total of 8 months since new and really am happy but for a few things. And most are non Jayco issues but aftermarket which every brand has. And Jayco has been fantastic to work with documenting my future repairs.
