Main cutoff and solar

My unit is in storage and i wanna connect a solar charger to it to help maintain battery. If i connect panel to the solar connector in wetbay. Does voltage still go to batteries if main cut off is off? Or am i gonna have to wire it directly to battery bank? Thanks

The solar connectors come in before the battery disconnect. If your Jayco came pre-wired for solar there should be a 20 amp circuit breaker for the "Solar on the Side" and a 30 amp circuit breaker for the panel that would go on the roof. It would be a good idea to include an inline fuse between the battery and the panel if you are unsure. If you use the solar on the side make sure you check the polarity of the wires first (some were hooked up backwards). Also make sure there is a solar controller between your panel and your battery to prevent overcharging. "Suitcase" solar systems sometimes come with them installed. Otherwise, you can get one for under $20.00 on Amazon.
