mor ryde pin box problem?

Hi all I am new to the forum so this is my first post. I did a search and nothing came up so here I go. I was doing a test run on my 2017 Eagle HT 28.5rsts yesterday when I made a turn and heard a thump. I exited my vehicle and seen my mor ryde pin box looking like it was twisted. it seems to straighten out but this does not look right. My first drive was about 150 miles and I did not notice this. Has anyone else experienced this issue? Thank you in advance for any replies. Bill

It does look a bit crooked. Mine always looks straight. Can you move it around any using your hands? The rubber shear spring may have failed.

It does snap back when I start driving and apply the breaks but it did not do this when I first brought the trailer home. now it is does it on right turns.

I've had a few of those pin boxes, and honestly I don't think you have a problem. The people at MORryde are great. I would contact them, share your concern and picture just to make sure. You'll get an answer from the source.

Gary is a guy I talked to a lot. He's in aftermarket sales, but could probably get you to the right people quick. He went above and beyond with questions I had about my suspension mods. His contact info is:

Thanks for the replies guys. Gary helped me out. It turns out the RV dealer didn't install the little rubber bushings that came with the pullrite adaptor plate on the pinbox. It is not worth the 200 mile drive back to that dealer to have them fix it so I will handle it myself. Gary sent the parts out to me and I should have them in a few days.

Well I will disagree on Gary being good.
He just ended email communication with me without diagnosing the problem. Then the rest of my emails went unanswered.
To heck with MorRyde for me.

Dang klassic. I've been dealing with them for a decade or so and have had nothing but good to say about them. I'll be honest, you are the first person I have ever heard say anything bad about MORryde. Care to mention your issue? If you aren't for MORryde, then what in the world would you go with, Lippert?

Hi Big JOHN.
I sent an email asking why I was chucking so much. I had read somewhere about the rubber "spring" is different for different capacity hitches. Thinking I got the wrong setup.
Gary replied within a day and gave me a little info and asked that I send him pictures of how far the hitch moves (travels)
I sent it and that was it. Never heard back.
I sent another message after a week asking if my hitch was in spec, and nothing.
I sent another a week after that saying that I was assuming no reply means everything is ok...? And if there was anything else that would make my ride better...and I compared the MorRyde chucking elimating abilities to my old 5th Airbourne. .....still nothing.
So I don't know if my hitch has the proper spring, and I guess I never will.

That's really odd for him not to reply. I hate you had that experience. I had good luck with my pin box on previous rigs, but possibly it was the correct one to start with. There are definitely different rubber shear pieces in the different capacity pin boxes, so maybe it is possible you have the wrong one. If that was the case, MORryde would take care of it. I've had the trail air as well, and the MORryde was superior in regards to chucking. Similar weight on both fifth wheels. I wish you had a better experience.

I still think my 5th Airbourne was better, but after I put Timbrens on my 2012 to decrease the truck sag the chucking was greatly reduced.
Maybe that was the problem. Too much sag and old worn out shocks.
My 2017 seems even better, but it's brand new.

klassic it seems to me our MORyde pin boxes don't come out enough from the 5th wheel.
The Mobile Suites I had before my Pinnacle had the air bag hitch (can't think of the name) and there was a lot more room between truck and fifth wheel.
It's crazy how straight you have to be to hook up......

Ya. I never had to be this straight on any SOB.
I my driveway I HAVE to hook up and unhook on the angle.
I need to back in a bit then get out and close the tailgate...then continue.
It's not so bad to unhook, because I can release then pull ahead a couple inches, then drop the tailgate with the button in my truck. No need to get out to open it.

I think they are awesome. I've never used air bags so I can't compare.
But nothing needs to be done to use them except for the rather simple install.
They don't touch when you're driving with no load, and when you have load they touch and give the support. It's not harsh from what I feel.
Was the perfect solution to keeping my 2012 from sagging too much.
Like I said before, I noticed I wasn't chucking near as much after installing them.

I haven't put them on my 2017 yet because, right now, the spring aren't sagging too much. Maybe they will after a while. Then I'll put new Timbrens on.
i don't know exactly how much weight they hold. I am around 3000 on the pin. I don't know how they would work if I had a pin of 3700-4000.

I've had Timbrens and currently have the Firestone Air ride bags. I like the bags better because if I get a rough road I can add or decrease air pressure in the cab to compensate the issue. Timbrenss were way easier to install, but I am glad I now have the Firestone's.

That right there is a huge cool factor.
I guess that involves, mounting a compressor and what not??
Do you have a gauge in the truck to moniter the pressure?

I think mounting a compressor on the vehicle is a nice feature regardless. Adds the capability of airing tires and other things. I have a Viair mounted on the truck, and now won't own another truck without one. I had the Firestone air bags on our class c motorhome, and they were great as after loading, I could level the rig side to side, adjust the ride etc. I really liked the bags for sure.
