My 29.5 BHDS mods page

Starting my own page to post mods to our new camper.

Also including a shout out to the mod pages of a few other forum members that I've been following w/ the same camper (forum post edit timeouts may not let me maintain this forever but it's worth a start). The 29.5 seems to a popular camper so my apologies if I overlooked anyone with a mod page.

New drawers

My first mod was to add some convenience to the rear bunk and dinette storage areas by adding drawers.

I used white pine for the sides and other structure, and Birch for the bottom of the drawers. Easy to work with and pretty light. Table saw, chop saw, bit of glue and a few screws on the corners is all these took (the screws were mostly to help keep things set while the glue dried)

The drawer slides are 24" (Lowes) and are rated at 75#. Lowes also sells the same handles that came with the camper.

Installing the slides was the tricky part. Had to screw through the face on the dinette side, but the doors cover the screws at least so they aren't all that noticeable. Also had to move the latches up a bit so they didn't obstruct the drawer movement.

Keep in mind, my day job is running an IT Project Management office, so wood working is a 'measure 2x cut then cut it now measure it again to see why it doesn't fit now cut it again oh crap too much have to start over' kind of thing lol

I have a couple more already made for under the front bed, and another small drawer for under the kitchen counter right at the door. Will post those after I actually finish.

Just wondering, our Eagle came with some pretty neat bins that slide nicely into the two spaces underneath the dinette. I believe it may have just been added, though. In any event, nice mods!

Tom, your mod's look great! I have some more coming myself, so stay tuned ;-)

BTW, what TV mount is that? Looks like it keeps the TV close to the wall when not in-use. I wasn't sure if that was really possible in that tight space, but your setup looks nice.

Thanks Dave, here's a picture. Got it from Walmart. TV sticks out 1.5" from the door frame.

Looks great. I've been waiting for a TV to show up. Do you think a 24" would fit?

Very nice job Tom. Now if my DW see's these and wants them, I guess I know what I'll be doing this weekend.

BTW, what color stain are you using to match the cabinets?

A 24" would fit, in trade for covering a bit more window. The thinner the TV the better.

Little dark maybe, but I'm pretty happy with how it matches.

Thanks Tom. From the pics, the match looks very close.

OH, I also forgot to ask. What Router bit / profile are you using for the drawer fronts? They look great too.

Incredible Job.
How did you trim out the edges of the opening under the bed. In photo 1 above it looks like the jig saw had a field day ripping the edges of the paneling.

It definitely did. Didn't have the greatest blade in it. I touched it up with the same poly stain, and with the bed down and drawers closed you can't even see it.
