Need an Arc!

Entire bottom of new FW full of water. Insulation soaked. cut away some of the plastic board, and you could have filled a swimming pool.

Thought I had winterized properly after the first run a few weeks ago.

Had pressure regulator in place.

Back to the dealer.

I'm bummed

If they are going to open up the belly, anything else I should have them do?

Have you determined where the water came from?

Have them install Horst holding tank probes. It will turn the useless tank gauge into a functioning one.

I had ordered a TT with a belly cover and it wasn't there when delivered.
I had the dealer install one, and they failed to cut a hole for the vent tubes, so they just dumped onto the belly cover and water seeped through between the cover and the frame. Fortunately, no major damage. I pulled the cover off and brought the vent tubes through myself, qnd reinstalled the cover. There was no way I was taking the TT back to the incompetent dealership.

Last year I had another leak where the hose that equalizes levels between the two FW tanks developed a leak. I took it to a reputable dealer for a fix, as it was now out of warranty.

I find the bellycover is a mixed blessing. It offers good protection to the wiring and it helps insulate, but it makes inspection for leaks very difficult.

Well it's still up at the dealer ( 8 days ).

All they have told me is that it's defective pipe, but Jayco hasn't approved the claim yet and wants more info....... Another week of waiting I guess.

Oh boy... A defective pipe should get prompt approval and I sure hope they get this and all damage resolved quickly. What a disappointment.

Sure hoping you have everything fixed soon. I just noticed that our units are now listed as Dealer Stock Only so at least we can appreciate that we got ours when we did, now to get them up and running! Good Luck with yours.

Beginning to think I made a mistake

Oh no, that's too bad that you haven't heard back yet. They seem to be slow, but it should be soon. No way we made a mistake buying this unit. Especially now that they're dealer stock only. I hope you won't have to wait much longer to know that everything's right again.

You might want to e-mail Jayco. They seem to be pretty responsive. They will ask you for your vin no. so that they can identify your unit in there system. I have contacted them by e-mail before and had good success.

Update: Well, I guess I have to claim Mia-copa.

In my 8 years with the TT, I never had an issue with grey water slowing draining down to the knife valve AFTER I dumped tanks.

In the new 5er, apparently I had some water left, and it froze and split the pipe at the knife valve junction. ( pics from CW pretty telling). Hence the flood on the 2nd trip out.

Jayco denied the claim, and I guess I understand it.

$600 to replace pipe, valve, insulation and Underbelly. Parts and Labor.

Word to the wise. Spend $5, and dump a gallon of antifreeze down the drain and drain to valve.

Hopefully they will be done this week and I can get to installing my new Solar array.

Lesson learned.

Glad to hear that at least you have an answer and a resolution in sight. Can you explain a bit further to us first time 5'er folks? For example, what is a knife valve, and how does one get to it in order to apply the antifreeze? It seems your lesson is an important one, want to make sure we understand it.

It will be great for you to have it back finally, in time for our great weather to come. Will look forward to hearing more about your solar, it makes perfect sense here in sunny Colorado.

Thanks for sharing.
