Need some recomendations on hitch for 2011 ram 2500 and eagle 351RLSA

Hi guys, like the title says I got a 2011 ram 2500 short bed and my dad got an eagle 351RLSA. I was talking to a pull rite rep and he said that the 18k unit might not have enough slide and that the 24k would be better suited. Mostly due to the fact that dodge has the worst cab to center axle dimensions. I know the front of the trailers are made to help short bed guys but how much does it help? price difference is 5 to 600 bucks between the two hitches. I like the idea of an auto slider cause knowing my dad he might get in a rush and i'd like to keep my cab in good shape. We are both new to the 5th wheel deal. Figured there'd be some wise ones on this forum that could help out.

Welcome to the Jayco owners forum. What cab do you have on the dodge? The pull rite web site states on the 24k that CamGlide design allows up to 18" of automatic slide, your trailer can turn up to 90 without coming into contact with the cab on a short bed. On the 18k it doesn't state not coming in contact with the cab so I quess the rep is correct.

Hitch Guys

I'd trust the hitch guy. He's is going to see to it your a happy customer, and that little exta is what you need with the extra short bed. Spend the money now not fixing the truck, you will be happy you did.

Agree on the margin of safety. One lick on your cab by that rig and you will be out way over 5 to 600 $$.

Another option for you is the Reese Sidewinder / 5th Airborne Sidewinder and a standard 5th hitch.

I've got a 2010 2500 RAM short bed and a 2011 Eagle Super Lite. While my rig is a shorter and lighter, the nose is the same shape/size as yours.

I use a Superglide 16K with the stock pinbox and have no clearance problems turning 90 degrees. Very happy with this setup.

No Slider Needed !! go with the Sidewinder Pinbox from Reese. Do a search for sidewinder they have a video. I have the 5th Airbourne w/ the sidewinder I love it !!
