New purchase-wheel question
Purchased a new 36FBTS today. Traded a Cedar Creek Silver Back that had 235/80/16 tires and wheels. The rims on that unit were stamped 3250 on the back, so I stayed with load range E tires when I replaced them. Although the new Jayco has the same size tires on it (Rainier), the wheel is stamped 3750 on the rear. Has anyone put 235/85/16 load range G tires on this wheel. The service writer at the dealer is "almost positive" that it will work, but would like some input from someone who might have already. Thanks, Tom

Congratulations on the new Jayco and welcome! Can't answer your specific question, but I'm sure someone who can will be along shortly.

Tom I believe the number that is stamped on the rim is the max weight that the rim is rated for.

You're right. I believe the OP wants to upgrade tires from an E to a G rated. Since the rims aren't stamped 110 psi, the 3750 pound load rating is what he asked the dealer whether they could handle the higher psi of g rated tires.
BTW, I run my tires at 110PSI without issue

Zacktly. Can't find the maximum psi after crawling around under it. Called jayco while at the dealer's lot. Was told technical support wouldn't answer any questions until after I bought it. Almost changed my mind.

Can you find any info on manufacturer on the wheels? If so, I'd go with them on rated psi.

Could be mistaken but, isn't the G-614 tire rated at 3750 pounds? To me if the rim had 3750 stamped on the back, I would think that it would have to be good at 110 psi.
The Rainiers on our Pinnacle are rated at 3520 lbs at 80 psi. That totals a little over what the axles are rated at. So, I am going to give them a chance before I invest the money to replace them. I'm thinking that, as long as I maintain the air pressure where it should be, these tires should be OK. The only unknown is the quality of the tire. And, that will always be the question on any new tires
In a few weeks, the Pinnacle will be making it's maiden voyage of about 1900 miles round trip. I will be inspecting these tires every stop we make. If I see the slightest sign of a bulge in the sidewall, all 5 will go away!!

Thanks for all the info. I googled some dealers that have the same model in stock with the Goodyear G rated tires option. The wheels appear to be the same as I have, even though they have the load range E. Also, it has metal tire valves. The wheels on the pinnacle brochure are different. I think I'm probably good to go. I'm scheduled to pick it up next Wednesday, so I'm gonna make an appointment to have the tires installed on the way home.

Had the Goodyear G614s installed today at the local Goodyear tire distributor. No issues at all. Reused the metal valves that came on the unit and put in 110lbs of air. They advised no issues at all. $1255.00 out the door, and there's a $20.00 per tire rebate form out there.

TLG, I know it cost you but those G614's are a great choice.
No tire is bulletproof but since I upgraded my E rated Marathons to G614's on my rig, I am confident that they are not the weak spot on my rig anymore.
