New Tires

My 2011 Jayco Eagle has ST235/80r16 10ply load range e tires that have been on it since new. I had my first blow out last week and would like to put new tires all the way around since they are five years old. I have Goodyear Marathons on it but I am thinking of changing brands. Any suggestions?

I have the same rig. I went thru 2 sets of Marathons and 2+years ago I installed Goodyear G614's. My rims were rated at 3750 @110psi so it was just a remount. I bought 5 of then to get completely away from the LR E Marathons. I run mine at 100psi.

No more tire problems for me.

Ran G614's on our last fiver(15k pounds loaded). On present rig we run the Maxxis. Both great tires, but I say the G614's are better for any fiver or heavier rig.

My current trailer I put Firestone Transforce HT's. LT245/75R16. I was tired of the China ST blow outs. After 4 blow outs and damage to trailer on the last one, I went US made LT's.

There are plenty of tires out there that can carry your rig and your stuff with extra load carrying capacity.

Problem is the rv manufacturers don't want to spend an extra dollar on them.

Believe you will find he means extra tire capacity. More tire capacity than you need is an excellent thing. You never ever want below or borderline capacity tires. Boom! Lol

I went with Sailun 235/85R-16 G rated tires and 110psi wheels. These added a little more height also which helps to make it ride less nose high. They're all steel tires and have given me great service and are reasonably priced as well. Don't skimp on the tires.

I swapped out Goodyear Marathons for Maxxis 8008. Only have 1300 miles so far but I am confident they are better tires. I know they weigh about ten pounds more than the goodyear and they don't squat as much either.
