North Point 377RLBH Gross and Pin Weight

I have seen several post on this, and I have not been on in awhile so someone might of already posted something like this.

My TV is a 2015 3500 GMC Sierra DRW Duramax 4x4 SLE.

The camper is winterized but we store in our garage so we leave everything but food and clothes in the rig for the winter. The only other thing missing is 10 gallons of water in the hot water heater. My four year old son was with me as I was bringing it back from warranty repair. (Separate story) I was not in the truck or on the platform for the empty truck weight. I weigh roughly 190 lbs. This does not change the pin weight which is the real number most of us are really interested in. I would expect fully stocked for summer the gross gets close to 24k with most of the weight being on the trailer axel.

Truck Weight
4,740 Steer
3,800 Drive
8,540 Gross Weight

Truck and Trailer Combo
4,920 Steer
7,560 Drives
10,860 Trailer Axle
23,340 Gross Weight

Pin weight on my 377RLBH 3,760. I would expect fully loaded for a summer vacation the pin weight would topple 4,000.

Trailer Gross Weight 14,620

Thanks for posting. One of these days I need to hit the scales to see what mine weighs.

Holy smokes that's a lot of pin weight! Most single rear wheel one ton trucks I have seen have payloads under 4000lbs... I guess that means this thing is dually territory for sure. Good to see you have duals.

My Load Range E tires are good for 3640lbs each which I think is pretty standard for all LR E tires. 3640lbs X2 = 7280lbs. Without a dually, you would be over the tire limit (not to mention axle limit) by 280lbs.

The 377RLBH is my dream trailer (some day) but I think this confirms it for me that it's going to require a dedicated tow vehicle, either a F-350 dually or a F-450.

MOCamper,

Do you have a generator or W/D? Your pin is over 25% of the trailer weight.

No W/D no Generator. I have removed the "Television holder" in the basement. (Pics in my modification album) Now I have a completely full basement.

I knew she was heavy in the pin. My 2011 Jayco Eagle 365 BHS did not squat the old GMC as much as this one does.

North Point 377RLBH Gross and Pin Weight

Here is the scale ticket for our 2016 377rlbh. I'm currently pulling it with a 2013 gmc 2500 SLE crew cab 4x4 with a short or regular bed.

We have the generator. We also had ours loaded with everything as we full time.

This was taken with the fresh water tank full, full fuel tank on truck, and full generator fuel tank.

I am going to buy a 2016 gmc 3500 but I'm fairly certain I will stick with the SRW regular/shortbed.

This is the truck fully fueled without the rv.

Your pin weight is 4360lbs and you're going with a single rear wheel?

Magnolia is correct, you are over 25% on the pin. I think you should weigh with the folks/gear/fuel... That you will travel with. Everything you put in the TV and 5er will affect the total weights. You don't mention your "sticker" weight ratings. In particular the Rear GAWR. I'm thinking I'd be close on the rear axle with my F350 2wd. The trim options and 4x4 will consume part of your cargo.

All I can say is wow!! Towed my 377 home today from the dealer today. (BTW-The new roof and body work looks great...you'd never know I hit a pole at the storage lot). I know that I'm over (Heck, everyone knows I'm over on payload) with my Ram 2500 Cummins! Which is why I put on the airbags...It tows like a dream with the cruise set at 62 mph. With all that said, we will go on our annual trip to Top Sail SP in FL this summer and after we return, I'm gonna have to start looking for a deal on a 3500. I want my family and everyone else on the road to be safe! I told the DW that I will probably have her follow in her car this summer for our trip to FL so that the family is safe. The Ram 2500 gives me such (I guess) false sense of security! I even upgraded the tires on the TV to a higher load capability...oh well, we have to pay to play!

BTW, I never travel with more than 5-10 gallons of water and our 377 doesn't have generator either.

Most likely will stick SRW. Upgrade the tires to 3750# each to get to 7500. Axle suspension is the same, tires or lack of a 3rd and 4th are the only difference as far as payload.

Here are the actual axle and spring load capacities for each class of vehicle for GMC rear axle's of 2013's.

2500, 3500 SRW, 3500 DRW

6200 / 7050 / 9375#

GMC rates them the same regardless of 2WD or 4WD.

Cargo capacities will adjust depending on model and options.

Brakes seem to the same across all big 3 manufacturers with regards to 2500/3500. Bolt pattern would make some difference, but I believe the rotors are all the same dimensions.

Surprisingly, the combo stops great! I'm not having any issues with the brakes. Did you get your braking issue sorted out? I have mine set on heavy electric with my gain set on 7.

BTW, I was told by my buddy in FL, that's a Ram mechanic at a dealer. I won't say this is gospel and I haven't researched it, but he told me that only difference between the 2500 & 3500 is the rear suspension...same brakes, same axles. This was back in 2014 that I was given this info.

I'm still going to look for a dually at the end of the year when the end of the year prices come down on the '16's.

You are correct on the ratings. However my point is the actual components, axle housing all the inner components, brakes, frame, structural cross members are the same.

The suspension is the limiting difference between a 2500 and a 3500 SRW. (Leaf spring being the actual component difference)

The tires are what limits the capacity between a SRW and a DRW. If you look at the tires on a dually they are rated 3195 each. However the rear axle rating isn't 12,780, it's as you noted 9375, which tells me the axle, suspension or overall structure is the limiting factor.
