You have a different year axel. You can stop.
Yours has different part number

We have yet to take trip since picking up from the dealer. I crawled underneath at dealer and again at home. The attached pic is what I found at home. All wiring is tied up just not very tight. The problem is the black wire. Thankfully none of the strands are broken. May not have been long before I had a stopping problem.

I have been there, and mine was new in March 2016. At first I wanted to blame the RAM brake controller for under performing.
The trailer brakes initially worked OK but I had to have the controller gain (OEM) at 10. Finally the brakes on one side of the trailer got grease on the shoes and the shoes on the other side burned up (actually disintigraded) from having to take the entire braking load.
All was replaced under warranty and now I run the controller at 6.5 and it brakes as you would expect drum brakes to on a heavy trailer (so far at least).
I carry a small remote temperature gun with me to measure the wheel temperature differences. However, you have to remember that the brakes on the street side (at least on mine) make contact before the ones on the curb side (they are wired that way) so the street side will have a tendency to be hotter.
Hope all of that helps.

Good catch indeed. I'd also suggest you remove the black rubber caps off of the connections and inspect those for corrosion as well. That's where my problem was.
Luckily for you if that wire rubbed through, you would only lose braking to that wheel only. Mine was the main feed that all the brakes were tied into

While de-winterizing and sanitizing our 321RLTS I crawled underneath to drain the fresh water. While under there I looked at my rear axle and the brake wire was either cut or broken, hence no rear axle brakes. Repaired wire and all is good. Lucky find. Pays to look them over.

Tom, Jasum...or anyone else who will participate.
If you get a chance, and have a spot to do it, can you measure your stopping distance. Brake controller on full, 20mph...just squeeze the controller and measure how far you go until full stop.
I am 115 feet.

I'll give it a go this weekend. Besides, I'm eager to tow for the 1st time with the new truck!

So I just got back from my 1st pull with the new TV. I thought I had made a huge mistake buying the new TV! I had NO brakes whatsoever! Then I remembered that I had the newly installed battery disconnect with the newly installed batteries disconnected! After fixing my huge mistake all worked out great and I found that 7.5 on the brake controller seemed to be the sweet spot for me.
As requested Klassic, I did the pull 3 times. I got approx. 98, 101, & 98 feet.

Good for you klassic! Glad you do not have a brake problem!
We got fridge repaired again yesterday and am sure it's right this time.
Had reservations at camp ground and were getting there late in the day. Got there and started backing in on blind side, (had phone on speaker and wife on her phone and told her just make sure I don't back in to something)
Jacked trailer harder than I ever had and it was like my truck had NO power. I'm thinking it feels like brakes are on or something......
Got out and breakaway switch had pulled out....lol
What a pain to plug back in!!
My brakes still need adjusted, but pull breakaway switch and it does pull hard.

Nope...that compliment would be good for Danno Jasum...I still have bad brakes.
That post was from Dan.
Thanks Danno...was your test with your controller at full or your sweet spot 7.5?
Mine was at 10. I can't go any higher.

We are all going to figure these out.
Klassic is your dealer adjusting your brakes?
I have to get mine adjusted.

With the problems y'all are having with yours, I honestly expected better numbers. My stopping distance was only about 15 feet shorter than Klassic's.

Interested in seeing what my distance will be with newly installed aftermarket controller once warranty work is finished.
