That bracket is just used to hold the slide track in alignment until fully bolted in place. Mine was the same and even the dealer thought it was a problem. Jayco looked at the pics and said no problem just an alignment bracket.

Update: pulled in the slide when we packed up this morning and it would not go in. Fortunately I was able to reset the control module again and the slide went in.

Not entirely sure why the slide won't just go in like it is supposed to. Might be a bad control module. Glad I kept my service appointment for August 2nd.
