Great post Wire!!
To a lot of those changes I can say WTF took you so long!
I like what I'm reading.
Changed fridge and inverter?? Hmmmm..
Changed axels??? Hmmmm...perhaps why half of us can't stop?
I absolutely love the front window in the Montana. Now I'm mad that NorthPoint has it...and I can't get that model now.
I roll my eyes at the drawer slides I have now and upgrade you 2018's are going to get. The stuff we have now is from the 1970's

Really makes me question if the 5k in savings is worth buying a 17.5 over ordering an 18, what is everyone else opinion?

I know a few of the items on here have been issues that I could fix easily later and keep the 5k in the pocket, like the wet bolts. But others are harder like the awnings, paint, trim, fireplace, recliner, sink, etc.

Wish there was pictures one of them from the dealer shows.

Tough call.
I know what I would do. I would be all over a new model with upgrades
Also would depend on delivery too.
But as far as I'm concerned the Lippert axels and the Fridgidaire fridge stink
I know Lippert owns Dexter, but Jayco is switching for a reason.

Dealer was estimating July delivery, with us retaining our trade until then. Who knows what they would give us in a trade at that point.

Wife wants to go with the 17.5 now, but I am waiting on our trade to get back from the factory after getting repaired.

I am with you I would prefer the 18 features, I didnt think the fridge was changing though. I also do like keep money in my pocket immediately even if it means some upgrades overtime as that will always happen.

What dont you like about the lippert axels? I saw some issues with the brakes, but I didnt quiet understand what the issue was.

I know I hear very few complaints about dexters
Three of us have grease on our brakes.
Another is still on the fence until he opens his wheels.
I've been fighting this since day one.
I blame Lippert 100%. When I ordered (like this time in 2015) I thought they were Dexters.

+1, I'd get the '18 too.

Thanks Wire for the write up. I think they've been monitoring Tom and all his upgrades and just incorporated them into the new model...lol

All of the big ticket upgrades seem well thought-out, even though I don't understand them all (wet bolts?), and yes I noticed that they must have been keeping an eye on Tom!

Our problem now is that we don't know what the new decor options look like. I had to break it to my wife that Ashwood is no longer an option and that I have no idea what the new colors look like. She has made it clear that we are not spending this much money without knowing what it will look like :-)

I'd go with the 18 as well! That's going to be a nice trailer!

Tom just did the wet bolts. Look at his thread. Mine is at the dealer getting them right now and Danno is in the process. We follow behind Tom.

I forget his name at Jayco, but I'll look for it and his number. If you call him I believe he will be able to email you the colour swatches. That's how I decided in 2015

Happy to help.

Sidebar, could I get a little helpful advice from experienced Jayco owners.

I looked at a used '16 377rlbh today. It's in great shape, owners owe 50k.
I've got rvone down to 53,600 on an '18 build with an msrp of 79,916. Pretty modest build with slide awnings, heat pump, dual panes. Thats around 33% off. Our plan is to full time for a bit at one location then start pulling it on vacations while full timing.
What are your thoughts given the changes/upgrades to the '18's?
If I pull the trigger on the '18 I'll push to 52k even for 35% off and hope they bite.
If this needs to be in an existing thread I started please advise and I'll shift gears.
Thanks

At 53k for an '18 must be a stripped basic build, the mostly equiped 17.5 we are looking at is 63k, missing generator, power cord reel, and morr-ryde tray.

Good idea, you can tell me if I am overpaying and should negotiate more before I sign papers.
I think they may not come down much because of my trade of a '15 PrimeTime Crusader 321RES, they are giving me 31k for that.

This is the build sheet snipet.

I think it's hi. But now it's clouded with your trade.
I would try some online dealers and see what prices you get.
RVdirect and that one in Indiana. Some one help me out here, I forget the name.
I think that price should be closer to your price for a 2018.

I'm iffy about the tire option too... I know they are good, but that's a lot of $$.
Unless you get a different rim.
You could get Sailuns for a lot less then that. Ask Magnolia Tom about them.
And if you have absolutely no desire to put a generator in, then the gen prep is throwing money out the window.

JMHO.

I respect your opinion, that is why I come to these forums to educate myself.

I know I could probably get another 3-5 off if it wasn't for my trade. The prices I have found in this area similarly equiped run from 61-66k.

I agree on the tires (I have to check the rims), then gen prep is a 50/50 for me, I wish it had it now but trying to keep costs down.
