NorthPoint early build awnings

Has anyone with a 2016 NorthPoint (maybe 2016 Pinnacle too) built before 12/15 noticed that they have a different Carefree awning?

The Carefree on the newer builds is noticeably way beefier and, from what I could see, has way easier sloping buttons, or should I say "BUTTON", to press to slope side to side.

I feel totally ripped off by Jayco. I know they "reserve the right", but to install a much stronger unit (perhaps?) after so many of the earlier builds crimpled under a small rain load and I am stuck with this inferior awning now. I paid the same price as everyone else.

And it sounds like a locomotive on a broken rail line when both my awnings open..It is a horrible loud sound.

Here is the newer Carefree.

The slides need regular cleaning and lubing with silicon spray on the moving parts. That's what I do and mine is quiet,

Mine is an older one too and it is not adjustable but it has a dump feature from the gas struts.

From those earlier posts last summer and fall the auto dump feature is when the arms crumple up.
These earlier Carefrees were new for 2016 and have adjustable arms.

I also looked at the Dometic awning on the Montana (it is the same style as the Carefree on my rig) and it is made of much thicker metal.

My awning, on my 2012 HT 26.5 RLS has those little buttons to release the "leg" so the awning can be tilted to dump rain. And it appears that my awning legs are very similar to your photos. Wonder why Jayco would "cheap" out on an awning for a more expensive FW? If that's what they did?

He didn t know what they would do.

I assume if I tell them about the noise they will silicone spray it like mentioned above.

The cheap awnings that some of us got stuck with are called Longitude. The better ones, and the ones Jayco used to use at one time are Travl'r. They are much stronger. The "train" sound may be coming from the gas struts and if so, they need to be replaced. If you contact Carefree and give them your serial # of your awnings they will send you new struts that will eliminate that terrible sound and the jerky movement of the awnings. It isn't hard to replace the struts but you will need 2 people to do it or your dealer should do it for you. I replaced mine myself and the noise is gone.
