NorthPoint/Pinnacle MorRyde hitch.
Can somebody measure their hitch movement for me. Like in the picture. I need the distance the white stability pads move in the dust (hopefully someone has dust on thier hitch)
I emailed MorRyde and got a reply back immediately.
I basically told them I thought maybe my hitch isn't working correctly because my truck is a "chucking bronco".
They told me to measure from the FRONT of the front stability pad to where it stops making marks in the dust.
(See picture. I have about 3 1/2")
He said this way he can tell what's going on.
Anyway, that was 2weeks ago and I haven't heard back. I've emailed twice...still nothing.
So if someone could measure theirs for me I could see if mine is operating properly.
Apparently there is two different weight rubber pads that control the movement.
Thanks.

NorthPoint/Pinnacle MorRyde hitch.
So want us to measure our dust? LOL
I have the same thing and it looks similar but I will measure it as soon as the Sun comes up!
BTW, mine only chucks on some poured concrete interstates.
Morning has broken:

Mine is more like Norty's. About half a pad in each direction unless I make a real hard stop.

Norty, yours looks like about half of what mine is.

That side to side movement is strange. Usually chucking is front to back or up and down.
When I look in the rear view mirror, it's amazing how much movement is dampened out.

I wish this guy would email me back. I don't understand. All I can think of is its not working as designed and he wants nothing to do with making it right.
Here's what I got...sounded like he was going to get to the bottom of it.
I am so sorry to hear of you bad experience with the MOR/ryde pin box. Normally what we find when that happens, is the durometer of rubber is either too soft which allows it to bottom out or too stiff and it isn’t allow the box to move at all. Could you look at those round white blocks (Stability Pads) between the skid plate and the main frame. The round blocks will clean off the dust on the top side of the skid plate when moving. Can you please measure from the front of the stability pad to where the dust is cleared off (see sketch below). That will give me a good idea of what’s going on.

I was going to say that based on your movement the rubber damper might be failing, or torn.
Time to go to Jayco. Push them to push the vendor or go through the dealer.

It seems maybe something is wrong, but it's brand new.
My trailer isn't near as heavy as a 377, or similar, with 6 batteries, genny, and washer/dryer.

Since you are having some communication issues with MorRide I would follow 3'senough advise and get your dealer involved.

I don't have a North Point but I went and measured my MorRyde. Mine shows 4" on the dust marks. I too still have some chucking. I have 20% on the pin so I don't think it's a loading issue. I have never thought about the dust measurement being an indicator of it not working right. I just figured it was the way it is. I know that for some a MR does or doesn't eliminate all chucking. I figured I was the latter. I'm very interested in how this issue runs it's course.
I have the lightest spring rates that MR uses so in going up to the next higher rate may be too stiff.

Is it giving you bucking while just driving, accelerating, or slowing down? Sure it's not a braking issue? Maybe it's compensating for too much brake gain or too little.

So far since MorRyde has left me on my own.. How do you tell which spring rate you have?
I know it's not going to eliminate all the chucking, but as I said earlier, if it is eliminating any then pulling with a normal pin would be unbearable.
Its at the point now of me saying this hitch stinks, because I have something to compare it to.
I don't think the folks who swear by this hitch have much weight, or have never had anything better or they haven't been pulling for very long.
I can make the chucking less (or its my imagination) if I fill the water tank.
I would have thought that would make it worse. The tank as far as I can tell isn't behind the axels but I think part of it is.
Coincidentally enough, there is another thread that just started with the exact same concern as me...plus no answer from MorRyde.

Having had none then adding one of these I will say it was a night and day difference. On expansion joint roads it will dampen the chucking, but not completely eliminate everything. There is some mild movement that you can notice. Without one my back would be constantly being slapped by my seat.
Could just be that perhaps a specific setup between TV and trailer do not like each other.
What about your hitch position? Is your head turned around? Could be where it is positioned over the axles. Long pin vs short pin could also have something to do with it.
This still does not excuse the lack of a response from Mor Ryde.
Hope you get some attention soon.

You should have a blue dot on the rear of the pin box that will have number in it. At least my dot is blue. Anyway my 5er only weighs 9000lbs loaded and my dot number is a 3. That means my pin box is rated up to 11,500lbs.
The other numbers are
4, 11,500-14,000
5, 14,000-18,000
6, Over 18,000
Another possibility is replacing the shocks on your truck with something stiffer like Bilsteins. Assuming you haven't already. Bags may help. Is the NP level? Nose high could be causing some chucking. Just throwing out some ideas. I don't like just throwing money at a problem. So maybe a call to MR would work.

Ok, just got off the phone with a guy from MR. He said 3" is normal. However when I told him that I had 4" he said that's fine too. It means that the bushings are traveling front to back about 1-1/4". He thought that was fine. Meaning they must have a min/maximum that the bushings need to be in.He requested I send a pic to him of the dust markings. Just did that as well. I will get back when he looks at them post that here.
He asked what problems I was having and I said "chucking". He asked if I towed without the MR before. I said Yes. He also wanted to know how much chucking was eliminated. I said about 60%. He said that's about right and that the MR won't eliminate 100%. Which I'm okay with. Too many other factors that can cause chucking.

Was this guy Gary Wheeler by chance?
There is no way I could drive this with 60% more chucking.
Yes the trailer is level.
It is chucking the same before and after Timbrens.
The Timbrens are definitely doing something because it brought the nose of my truck back down.
This is the same truck I towed my SOB with the 5th Airbourne
Truck has 73000 miles on it. I couldn't have had a shock issue between me taking my SOB in and picking up the NorthPoint.
Looks like my slider travel is within spec.
My conclusion is the 5th Airbourne is a better hitch.

Don't think so since I sent the email to Rob Kolean. Didn't get a name when talking.

Can any of you tell me why I think I have about 30 to 40% less chucking when I fill my water tank.
What is the physics here?
Or am I completely imagining it.
I leave with a full tank acceptable chucking, I come home on the same roads, with no water, noticeable irritating chucking.

I guess I don't need to talk to them now.. You've told me what they are going to tell me.

Hate to say it but maybe sell the MR and go for a Trailair. Nothing worse than dropping money trying to fix something but if you can sell your MR it wouldn't be that much more $$ for a Trailair.
