Oldest Fiver

Howdy all,

I was just wondering how many old Jayco fifth wheels are still out there and being enjoyed? Also, who has the oldest one still in use?

I'll start. I have a 1995 Jacyo Designer 3430RKS. It is still in good shape and I hope to get a lot of use out of it this year. I'm even doing some upgrades.

I don't have a dog in this hunt, but I will be interested in seeing some older units that are still alive and well.

This is the 1988 Jayco Designer that we just sold. My inlaws bought it new and used it every year until my mother-in-law passed away. Father-in-law gave it to us and we have used it for the past 5 years. Frig has been worked on and of course new tires but everything else is still original and in great shape, even the awning. We sold it to a family new to camping and they are so excited to have it. Asked our dealer if this 5er will last as long and he couldn't give us an answer

its treated us pretty good...just the 2 of us plus 2 labs...we really like it.

Wow they are still in great shape, we can only hope the newer ones look as good twenty years down the road. It is a sad reality though that things today are generally not as well made sigh!

Have a 1996 Jayco Eagle 30ft 5th wheel. Bought it last year just to test the waters as we have never had an RV. Turns out that we love the lifestyle. The unit is in immaculate condition as the previous owner really cared for it. We hauled it from Idaho to Quartzsite last fall with no issues. Bought land with 3 RV spots on it so now we have a place to winter after retirement. Then we will be upgrading to a larger and newer 5th wheel.

We have a 1996 3050 RK with a single large slide for the LR. Love it and all is original. Going to replace the awning this summer just as a precaution due to the age. No tears. We love it.

The DW and I are now full-timing in our 1995 Eagle 277RB fiver. I've updated it over the years, replaced the carpet, installed HDTV and satellite radio and television, as well as a Generac QC40 generator that was pulled from a damaged rig. We live quite well, and our lot rent, utilities included is only $325 a month. Our only other RV expense is $25 a month for insurance. Sure does beat a monthly mortgage payment! Happiness is having a paid-off rig!

That's a good idea, Dave. How about starting a new thread in the pop up section of the forum? Perhaps one of the moderators may wish to start a thread in the general section where all rig types are included? I know I would love to see pictures of some vintage rigs.

Good move HarryW. We did the same thing with our 2003 Legacy. Just returned from the land of snowbirds. Loved it but... things are wearing out
and falling in a 1 1/2 deep ditch didnt help LOL. Hello Insu Agent. So we cleaned her up and traded her in for a new 2012 Cedar Creek 36 CKTS yesterday. I did look at the Pinnacle but they shrunk the shower and I didnt shrink me. You just can't put 6 lbs of S in a 5 lb sack.

Thans Ducky. I hope we made the right decision. Congrats on your new Cedar Creeek. I will be following your posts to see how your plans work out as we plan on doing the same. Next year sell the house,winter in Quartzsite, and travel the West in the summer. Still a lot to formulate but you've ginen me a lot of ideas in your other posts.

Our 2004 Designer is not that old, at least compared to the posted ones, but all of these elder citizens still in great shape really attest to the quality Jayco has built into them.

I'm new here so hello to everyone. Just moved up from a pop up to this 1999 255bh and absolutely love it. The previous owners took very good care of it.
