Overflow rubber flap?

Hello all,

I have been noticing that when I fill my Clean tank, that water comes out of this rubber 'relief bladder thingy' and not my overflow tubes. Does anyone know that that thing is?

I have a 2016 28.5 BHS.

thanks in advance

Maybe post a picture of the "thingy" and someone will chime in and tell you what it is.

On my 5thW that is the overflow. Also keep an eye on how much water you loose when you are moving, I used to loose 2/3 of a tank in 50 miles of mountain driving.

Funny reading this. I filled my tank 2/3 full for ballast on my last trip. Much better ride this way. Anyway, after one shower and a few toilet flushes it was way down by the end of the trip. Didn't make sense. Must slosh and come out the overflow.

When you say bladder, are you talking about a black, collapsed tube that is connected to 1.5" flexible hose at the underbelly? It is a piece of flat hose that, i believe, is designed to allow overflow without bugs crawling up the tube.

To prevent losing water, I fold it over and put a clothes pin (or binder clip) on it. Simple way to prevent significant water loss.

The other white hose that hangs down is just a tank vent to let air out while you fill and air in while you empty so you don't pressurize or create a vacuum.

On a previous RV I put a valve on the overflow to prevent loss of water.

Rubber flap is over the large over flow tube. The 1/2" tube is the vent tube. Here is what i did to stop water from syphoning out the large tube while driving. Jayco recommended it. Has worked well for me.

Nothing is the very end if that is what you are asking.

Just used a 1/2" to 1/2" barb fitting, some new 1/2" hose to form the loop, and used zip ties to hold it in place.

Overflow rubber flap?

The flat one is the overflow hose, I have one for each tank. The round one is the tank vent. Mine has 2. The low point drain is on the side by the rear wheel.

Definitely not the low point drain on my setup. It is located farther back on the unit.

I only have one fresh water tank.

Ok.....at first it looked like there was a screen or something in the end.

There are many configurations and it's hard to discuss specifics due to the many variations.

This is just like mine. What you call a bladder is just a section on flat hose, which I suspect is to keep things from crawling in there. This is your over flow.

The 1/2" hose is the vent for your tank.

This is stuff that would be nice to know via a manual specific to the model that explained each system of the RV via some text/schematics. Like what you'd get with an airplane. Or a car for that matter.

Overflow rubber flap?

Yes the small hoses are tank vents on mine. Low point drain is a valve behind the rear wheel.

I have found that when you contact Jayco via their website or call them and ask for a specific schematic they will provide it. Would be nice if they would just provide them all in one manual. Heck i would even pay for it like i have for all the car manuals i have.
