Overhead cabinet door struts

We pulled the trailer out of storage over the weekend and started loading stuff for the summer. As the overhead doors kept slamming on our fingers, we started wondering why there were no struts like our previous trailer had. With weather to crummy to do much else, we surfed You Tube looking at other Jayco's and began to wonder if they were missed in the build - every other Jayco seemed to have them. Does yours have struts on the interior overhead cabinets?

Mine don't have struts, but they don't come down on our fingers when loading them. Don't know why yours are doing that, but may the dealer might have a fix for you.

Our 2014 Eagle TT came with the struts on all the overhead cabinets. Here are the struts that we have in our Eagle.

70545 - 505028 Cabinet Door Strut (Metal) - Price: $5.59 - Factory RV Surplus - 1611 W Bristol St, Elkhart, IN 46514 (800) 325-1461 (574) 262-3327

Hope this helps.

Our 2015 24FBS has them on all our overhead cabinets. We also had one split the corner of the cabinet door too. Had the door replaced under warranty.

Ours didn't come with struts either, but I made some braces that are screwed into the top corner of the cabinet frame and pivot out to hold the door up. They work very well, and I just happened to have some stain that matched the cabinets.

We curently have a 31.5 fbhs. That has those struts.. Our 36 fbts came in Friday. We have not picked it up yet. One of the things we specified in the order was the overhead cabinets have struts added to them. We were informed last week during production that they would not add the struts because it would damage the hinges. We looked at it Saturday and sure enough no struts. If you search this site you will find some VERY GOOD options that you can do yoursef.

On all my overheads no struts came from the factory, so I added myself. I will say that some of my hinges did need to be glued to take the pressure.

I might go with a folding lock style this season on the doors to take the stress off them. The other mod above is a good alternative as well.
