Paint Fading on front cap

Hi, replying to an old thread regarding paint fading on the cap of fifth wheels. Mine is a year and a half old and faded. Took the advice of the old thread and it is in the shop to be repainted. Guess because of all the complaints/work my Jayco dealer said Jayco will no longer do this work if it’s over a year old. He said they changed the verbiage in the warrantee also. Only reason their doing mine is I called it out to them before a year was up and they had it documented. Might be BS but just a heads up if you’re in that situation.

Just noticed that in 2015 model that the same model had a white or brown front cap. Perhaps Jayco is going back to white due to the problems. Model is their HT 27.5 RLTS

We have an Eagle Premier 375BHFS on order. After seeing the issues with fading on the forums I checked around before placing the order and found out that the color was switched from brown to cream color on all units coming out of the factory going forward. I was glad to hear it because we really wanted an Eagle Premier but I wasn't going to spend that king of money on something that may be fading out in a year or two.

My front cap is fading on my 2013 365BHS that I picked up a year ago June. The caps on the lower corners of the bed slide have also faded from dark brown to beige .

Is your front cap gray or brown?

Maybe we are just extremely lucky, but the front cap on our 2014 375 hasn't started fading at all, and ours sits in direct sunlight all day.

Just picked up my 2015 Eagle 284BHBE. My unit came out of the factory on October 3rd with a cream/beige cap.

+1, but I wax it and also I had the high gloss finish option when ordered. What that was I don't know, but I took it for the few hundred they wanted.

I will be waxing it again before it goes to bed as winter can be harsher on paint than summer due to angles.

Our 2013 Eagle 314 BDS will be getting the cap painted in a week or so due to the oxidation at the top.

Todays update, so they finally got it painted but a couple of the decals are back ordered so they say. Been almost two months!! Question, would you just go without the decals? It would make it easier to wash and wax and one more thing not to fade. Picking it up tomorrow either way. Thanks!

I'd get them. It looks finished. Did you get it pained original color?

I really liked the colored 5th wheels, but this is the reason I decided not to pay a $2500 premium for the brown unit. I know mine's not a Jayco, but this problem isn't just a Jayco problem. Appears to be pretty common across all different makes and brands.

The decals in question are the ones that go on the sides of the front cap. Jayco, for some reason has these decals are part of the side decal kit. The service department just ordered the cap decals, thinking that it would contain all the necessary decals (not so). I noticed it when we got the trailer back and I had Jayco send them to my home. I still have them on office shelf. Maybe one day I will take the time to lay them out and install them.. not HIGH on my priority list yet.

We opted to have the cap repainted the color of the side of the TT (color was computer matched), the surface temperature of the cap is now more than 100 degrees cooler (dark color was over 200 degrees in the sun), and the inside of the TT stays much cooler during the summer when the sun hits the cap.
