Pin Box Head Protectors

So the wife came home from work and brought the garbage cans in which go in front under the FW. Ya you know the rest, about knocked herself out. I know there is a company that makes custom protectors that cover the whole Moride pin box. What are u all using or come up with to keep from wearing a helmet, or have u been knocked so hard u just forget

Pin Box Head Protectors

I did the same thing last month. Took 5 staples to put Humpty Dumpty back together. Click image for larger version

I will be following this thread closely.
I am going to put some split rubber tubing on the sharp edges.

You are luckey u did not pass out and break some bones. The pin box is deadly and I might spend the money for a complete protector. The wife called me and said if u come home an find me on the floor this is what happened. That had to hurt!!!!!!

At the Harrisburg RV Show, I saw where a number of dealer took a 12" x 12" x 6" block of foam, cut a slit to the middle, hollowed out a bit for the pin in the middle, then slid it over the pin. Since we were shopping for our first 5'er, I paid attention. Just pulled the new rig home 2 weeks ago, and unless I find a reasonably priced commercial option, I'll probably do the same thing in the Spring.

Put something on the ground directly below it. I on the otherhand bump my head on everything on my 5er. Access doors, awning arms and the general overhang. It ain't camping without a bruise or bandaid.

I usually don't have to worry about the pin box due to it being at my chest height 99% of the time. The bedroom slide has hit me back a few times and almost KO'd me as it's right over my basement access door ODS. I use the floating noodles cut in half and to length for those corners when camping and I have a set of solar string lights that go around the pin so everyone knows it's there in the dark and a huge American flag that gets clamped to the box during the day.

In your case a yoga mat cut to size and some bungees would work wonders if your not too worried about the looks. There only about a 1/2" thick and come in all sorts of colors to suit your taste.

One thing I have learned is to never wear a baseball style cap when working around the outside of the fiver.

I have looked at the one from safe zone before. I spent some time looking at my Moride pin box and u almost have to make a custom one. On my new beautiful beast I hate to rig something up with rope or bungy cords. For the price just ordered one from safe zone. Now to tell my better half I got it for her and it is now her job to bring in garbage cans

Rock - let me know how it works out. I'm thinking of getting one but thought it was a little pricey. I was initially thinking of trying to make something on my own but it might be worth to spend the money so it looks decent.

I sometimes banged my head on the bedroom slide. I cut a slot in a couple of tennis balls and slipped them on the corners. Solved the problem and the balls grip tight to the corners so they don't blow off in the wind.
