Pin weights in the real world

We are considering the purchase of a new truck. We also think there could be a 5th wheel in our future. Looking at Jayco specs I see that pin weights (dry) seem to be in the 2300 to 2800 pound range for the units we like. What pin weights (loaded) should I plan for if we are considering a Pinnacle or Eagle Premier. Another way to ask the question is what payload rating should I be looking for in a truck?

In my opinion, you can never buy "TOO MUCH TRUCK"- That being said, the weight of a Pinnacle would dictate a dually pickup or medium duty truck- We started out with a gas 3/4 ton pickup and moved up to a gas 1 ton dually and finally to a 1 ton diesel- Once you have experienced towing with a dually, you'll never go back to a srw- JMHO- DD

I agree with DD you cant have to much truck. And by the way the pin weight of our Eagle 5th wheel loaded on the last trip was 3000lb if that helps

If a FW was in my future and knowing my loading habits, a 1 ton SRW would be the minimum that I would be shopping for providing approximately 4,100lbs payload capacity. It should be noted that published TV weight limits (capacities) Payload Capacity, Tow Rating, etc., are based on the Curb Weight of the specified TV.

I have one BIL towing his 2012 Eagle 351MKTS with a F-350 DRW, and another BIL towing his 2012 Pinnacle 31RLTS with a 3500HD SRW....., both within TV weight limits.
