Pinnacle 1000W Inverter

Question, looking at purchasing a 2015 Pinnacle (we like the 38FLSA).

Does the included 1000w inverter power up the TV's, Outlets and interior lights when boon docking?

Or does it power just the residential Samsung refrigerator?

Welcome to the forum.

There are probably folks here that can help you. Unfortunately, I'm not one of them.

Unfortunately not. The only other outlet on the converter is the one under the cabinet next to the microwave. That was proably done to ease the wiring of the slideout since that outlet would only be used while on shore power.

Interior lights are all 12 volt which would just draw the batteries down faster, even though they are LED.

JAYCO told me to only expect about 20 hours off the two batteries running the fridge. Don't know if they meant clock hours or actual compressor running hours on the fridge however.

The PINNACLE line unfortunately, is not really designed for boondocking without a geny.

Thats too bad.. I was planning on installing 4 6V AGM batteries.... I wish the included 1000 W inverter / charger was installed where everything would work (except the AC breaker)....

The power draw on the fridge would take up most of the 1000 watts.. Now with 4-6 volt AGM batteries AND a good solar system you will be able to boondock.. Mustang65 has started a solar social group on here you might want to check out.

Fridge is only 3.9 amps (on the 110 side it uses what SAMSUNG calls an inverter compressor) so there is some room for the TV, the battery capacity is really the issue.

The inverter is in the basement right next to the batteries. The converter/charger is built into the breaker panel (it is a Progressive Industries smart converter charger and power panel combined) next to the pantry.

The 1,000 watt inverter is loafing with just the RR so it could power the TVs so I really don't understand why they didn't set it up that way.

Since we don't have a Pinnalce yet I don't have much to add other than what my plan will be if we get a 2016 36KPTS. I'm planning to put in a larger inverter and a load management system in to handle all of the 120VAC loads.

Batteries is my guess and most FW in the PINNACLE class (Grand Design and others) are primarily extended use FW and very few would use for boondocking. Would probably be a good option for JAYCO to add.

So is it a good idea to.... keep the 1000 w inveter which is dedicated to the RR and add a 2nd inveter to power TV's, Sat and outlets?

I have 4 6V AGM batteries to use, need a plan of action

I agree since the pre 2016s only had room for two batteries. The 2016 list room for up to six batteries however they didn't say what size battery case it will hold although one would assume they are at least as big as the ones in the 2015.

That works and you likely don't even need a 1,000 watt unit for the RR. I've read where 250 watt units have been used to power a RR. Most motorhomes use a 2,000 or even a 2,800 watt unit to power the entire coach.

If you're looking at a 2015 remember the battery bay only holds two of them.

Yeah, will have to use the generator bay to fit all 4 of my 6V AGM's.

I agree, the 1000w should be plenty to run water pump, a few tv's and RR.

What to do in order to make this work is my question.. is it just wiring? Or need another subpanel?

Everything on the unit except TV's, fridge, microwave and elec side of water heater are 12 v. Getting wiring to the bedroom TV and micro could be tricky.

We have a 2015 FBTS and installed 4-6V batteries along with 1000W solar panel. Haven't dry camped yet, but we hope it will work.

Actually the first thing to check is the 120V breaker panel to see if it's a split panel. If it is then one side will come from shore power, or the transfer switch if you have the gen prep option, and the other side would be from the inverter. The split would normally be 8 full size breakers and 4 full size ones.

If you can take a picture of the breaker panel I can see how the breakers are labeled and try to figure it out.

It's not since the only load on the inverter is the fridge. Breaker panel to inverter to fridge. The inverter has it's own 15 anp breaker for the pass thru/transfer switch.

You're probably right but seeing the breaker panel might give me some ideas.

Hopefully I'll get to check out a 36KPTS and a 36RSQS this week.

Actually, at least in the FLSA the fridge (inverter) and three other outlets are on the same breaker including the TV.

Here's the convert/breaker/fuse panel spec sheet.

It would make sense to connect the main entertainment center especilly on the 2016 and beyond which have room for more batteries.

BTW, I had a feeling based on the pictures I've seen that was the one they were using. It puts a little kink in my plans but nothing I can't work around. If you want to do load management you need to use the PCI panels which are split ones.

man.. wish they would have given pinnacle owners the 1550w, only $42 dollars more for the PD4590 (90 amps / 1500W vs 60 amps / 1000W).... would have been better with what i'm trying to accomplish (dry camp running 2 tv's, winegard sat, water pump and RR..)
