Pinnacle water pump

Our pinnacle fresh water pump has never been uesd other than winterizing. We are setup on an annual site with city water. I found a small leak last weekend at the screw in screen on the exit side of the pump. I tightened the threaded fitting where the screen is housed and the leak stopped. We came back up last night and the leak had come back. I retightened and again the leak stopped. My question is should the exit side of the fresh water pump have pressure when hooked to city water? The valved are in the correct position for city water.

That screen should be on the intake side of the pump not the exit.. try some Teflon tape on the threads

Sorry, meant inlet side. Should there be water pressure on the pump? I started to put some teflon tape on the threads, just not a lot of threads there on the canister.

Do not run your pump on a pressured water supply. My Pinnacle over pressures and leaks too if I have both. Only run the pump when on tanks. Hope this helps.

Sounds like the check-valve is leaking or has dirt in it and yes the pump will pressurize when connected to city water. The check-valve is on the inlet side to keep water from flowing back into the tank when the pump shuts off.

Never run the pump. Grumpy told me what i needed to know, there is pressure on the inlet side. I wasn't sure with the valves in the correct position if pressure there was normal. I took the canister off again the morning and wrapped the threads with teflon tape. So far no drips.

I had the same leak as well as a drip on the plastic Tee that the control valves screw into. Had to totally disassemble all the water lines from valves to pump and filter, put pipe dope on all the threads and reassembled with some new heavier stainless steel American made clamps and haven't had a problem since. We too are on an annual site and noticed the leak one weekend that I forgot to turn the water off the weekend before and had somewhat of a mess in the basement compartment.
