Possible Power Issue?

Ok so I plugged in my battery monitor today. Everything looks good. Then I turn on the bedroom lights and the voltage drops to 12.55 and the Red light comes on and shows a battery extremely low warning. Turn the lights off, back to Green and 13.08V. 100% battery charge. So I check with the main lights on, it only drops to 12.90v but I still have 100% charge and a green light on. Now the Main light switch turns on 8 LED's but the bedroom only turns on 4. During the test I'm plugged into a 30amp shore power as well. Why is this happening? I would think with shore power, I wouldn't see this kind of reaction. Is there a power / charge problem going on?

Your battery is shot. Replace it.

Pull a battery out of your car. My guess is your problem will disappear. Any auto parts store can load test you battery.

If you have your TT hooked up to shore power, you should see no change in voltage. What happens (voltage) when you turn on a ceiling exhaust fan if you have one or your TT's radio? Does the voltage drop to the 12.5 volts?

Before you go out and buy a new battery...

Check all your battery connections.. terminals, frame ground connection and the inside of your main fuse by the battery. Take your cables off the battery and clean the terminals (no corrosion). Water level of the battery?

Then try your lights again. Test your voltage right at the batteries.

Disconnect shore power, what does it do on Battery only? Put a volt meter across the battery, what are you reading with no lights on. Turn both sets of light on, what is your battery reading now?

It's all over the reading on the monitor. Yesterday I turned on Every light but the bedroom and it only dropped to 12.68 but still showed Green & 100% battery charged. Then during the night, without doing anything it would drop to only 13.01 but show a Red light and only 1 or 2 bars for battery charged. This morning it's still bouncing between Green & Red, full charge and 1 bar. I'll have to check the battery terminals and connections when I get home.

Do you have a regular volt/ohm meter, not the one on the display you are using? Double check the voltage readings with the volt/ohm meter. I would think since the voltage is bouncing around it is a loose battery cable connection somewhere in the system. First check the ground/frame connection from the negative terminal of the battery. Start there and work your way back to the TT's battery charge controller connections.

Ok started poking around. Battery terminals appear to be tight. But I noticed that the Frame-Mounted ground screw appears to have been installed After the frame was painted and the paint wasn't removed under he screw & washer. I'll fix this when I get home tomorrow. Then we'll see what the monitor reads.

To save yourself some issues down the road, you may want to replace all the screw type connectors with crimped lug ends (hydraulic tool crimped ends) . Vibrations tend to loosen these screw type connectors and temperature expands/contracts the cables along with some oxidation all lead to voltage issues. If you do not have a hydraulic crimping tool (ok like I understand if you do not), try and locate a welding company as they usually have the crimping tools... Or just replace them with automotive battery cables with a crimped lug on each end (probably the less expensive route).
