Possible Power Problem Solved?

IF you've read my previous thread here: http://www.jaycoowners.com/forums/f6...sue-37669.html
I finally got around to taking the Battery Ground screw off. Sure enough, factory Thick paint behind the ground screw:

So after some sanding (the paint was thick) and replacing the screw, my monitor now reads higher and when the LED's in the Master bedroom are turned on, the battery charge indicator still says 100% & a Green light!

We'll see what happens on our next 2-week trip starting tomorrow!

Dave...

That paint gets you every time. I like to install a star washer between the frame and the lug. The star washer bits into the metal, and makes a really good connection.

So glad to hear it was something so minor. Sometimes it's frustrating to see things the factory does, that causes us grief. I think a lot of us have seen the "bad ground" issue at one time or another. At least now you're back in business!

Good work. Connecting copper to steel makes a temporary good connection but over time the anodic reaction will have you back there fixing it again. I wish chassis manufacturers provided an actual ground buss for DC systems.

Good work on the ground issue. I have seen this type of thing more times that I care to count. After I finish cleaning it up and reattaching the screw I usually apply some "Liquid Tape" to the area to seal it from the elements.
Also, while you are messing around with this stuff. Check the tightness of all battery connections, fuse connections, circuit breaker connections, etc, both on the battery side and in the converter enclosure.

I was going to say the same thing JAGIVEN said but after looking at your photo I see it had a star washer installed already... Those Star washers bite in both directions... Maybe the star washer was missing but you can see the marks it left... I guess they just painted over everything haha...

Another rule I have is only use this ground connection for only ONE terminal...

Good job getting that cleaned up...

Yes, it has a Star washer on it. But you can see in the photo, the paint was so thick it didn't really bite all points into the metal very much, if at all.
Now we're good-to-go, hopefully!
