Potential Pinnacle owner
Hello all, I just signed up on this forum in anticipation of ordering a new Pinnacle. We are seriously considering the new 38REFS that has the sliding glass door second entry. We really love the layout, but I have never seen a 5th wheel with a sliding glass door. My concern is about how it behaves when towing, how really secure is it, is bouncing and flexing etc. a potential issue. Seems that it would have to be pretty heavy duty glass to prevent cracking during travel. Does anyone have any experience with this model or another 5th wheel with a similar feature. My 2nd question regards the A/C system. According to the dealer it comes with a 15,000 btu unit with the whisper quiet ducted system. There is the option for adding a 2nd A/C in the bedroom. Is this necessary? We do live and camp in Florida so it can get pretty hot. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Definitely the 2nd a/c, can't address the door, except there are other brands, esp toy-haulers with similar on the road.

X2 on the AC. We looked at this model and liked it except for the door and the fact that as a rear ent. you give up a full size couch. This is why we are hoping to get a North Point387rdfS. The sliding door seems to be a popular item this year. We have seen them in several models. Friends of ours bought a 2016 Pinnacle flsa and we spent time in it this summer at the beach. In several days of >100 temps their unit stayed very cool maintaining no more than 76. They did keep the blackout shades down during the day and they had 2 ac's. Good luck with it.

Wife and I purchased a 2016 Jayco Designer 39RE. It has the sliding glass door same as you are talking about. We have pulled it over 6K miles since March and no problems with the glass or flexing. We really love this 5er. We live in Florida and are curremtly in central Kentucky and it has been hot! I would not be without the 2 A/Cs. Keeps the coach very comfortable!

We have the 2nd ac in our rig both are ducted in the same duct system. We like it because we can use either one and all overhead the ducts move cold air. Summer camping just once and you will be very pleased.
I know to many who purchased one that was prewired and immediately after getting it had the additional expense of adding it.

Need that 2nd AC! We did not get the dual paned windows and think that might have helped keep us cool too. If we had to do it over, we would have gotten those. Also, wish we would have gotten 2nd awning, again to keep rig cool.

Thanks
Thank you all for your input. We took the plunge today and ordered our new Pinnacle 38REFS. DW loved the layout. Have to wait 8-10 weeks. We ordered it with the 2nd a/c, 2nd awning, dual pane windows and G rated tires (a must in my opinion).
Now we wait!

Congrats on taking that big step and putting your money down. Just curious - what are you towing it with? That's a lot of pin weight. We talked about maybe upgrading soon to a pinnacle but i have a 2500 ram 6.4 gasser which is great for our TT but not the pinnacle. Maybe in a couple years we will trade the truck and TT in for a 5th. But for now its all talk. 5ver or a bus., etc.

I just traded in my Chevy 2500 for the 3500 dually knowing that we were going to trade in our old 5er for something larger. I discovered that we were already near the cargo capacity limit with our old 5er. You really have to pay attention to the door sticker that tells you that. Towing capacity isn't the only factor. There's no way I could have taken the pin weight in the 2500.
