Problem with both bunk slides, 2016 375 BHFS

Wondering if anyone is having problems with their rear bunk slides. I have lubed as instructed by dealer. Acts to me like they are just to tight for the cutouts. It takes many attempts with a little assist to get them in or out. They can be totally stripped of any possible weight with no difference either. Any input or anyone faced with this issue? All the other 3 slides work super.

Are they square and synced? Do you deploy before or after stabilizing?

If they are out of sync at all you are going to have issues as the tolerance is very small. I had issues in the beginning, then learned what not to do.

First always continue to the end of the cycle without stopping and hold for 3+ seconds after the completion. Even if it's the wrong slide you wanted. If you stop at any point other than the end, you will have issues and they get worse as time goes on.

The second thing is to deploy and retract without the jacks being down then proceed to stabilizing. That little bit of pressure makes a difference in how the slides go in or out.

If one side is hitting first and the other is catching up at the end then you are out of sync and it needs to be done. Even a 1/2". Both sides should bottom out at the same time. I use the lines on the floor as a guide to make sure it is square. No body touches the slide buttons but DW or me.

X2 what 3'senough said on best practices. Easy to get out of sync but easy to fix. Out of most all slides systems manf., this one has the least tolerances for working out of square. Probably the least favorite slide to work in by most dealers too. Maybe you have, but if not get on YouTube. Lots of videos on how to resync, override using the control module, manual retract or extend, motor replacement etc. I don't have that system now, but have had my fair dealings with them on the Motorhomes we had before.

Not a dig at anyone but the manufacturer and Jayco for using them, but this is asinine! I've had two previous Jayco travel trailers with multiple slides, and never had a moments trouble out of any of them. We are awaiting delivery of our first 5th wheel, and it's apparent I'll have to give everyone a tutorial on the "pray as you hit the button don't flinch stop sneeze or fart as you deploy the super sensitive gets its feelings hurt easily slides"!

I missed that part about stabilizing. Supposed to do that first, but honestly it doesn't matter. Level front to back helps, side to side no big deal. Heck I've seen them drive Motorhomes around at the factories with all slides partially out.

Sorry Shadester, I missed this thread. I basically repeated everything these guys said during our PM's.

Mixed messages from Jayco on this. We had an issue similar to the OP, but nothing was physically wrong. Jayco told us, through the dealer, to deploy the slides then stabilize, as stabilizing may tweak the frame just enough to cause the slides to bind.

Another member contacted Jayco, and they told him to stabilize and then deploy the slides, though you can deploy first if you have issues stabilizing first.

Yup that is what Jayco told me. Since I have had mine I have deployed all jacks first. Next time I will not at my house. On my summer trip I have two overnight parks reserved on my way. Unless really unlevel I do not plan to unhook for the night so that will check out the slides

Level First

I have pasted the following from the 2016 Northpoint owners manual.

The RV must be level and the stabilizer jacks in the extended position.

Locate the slideout control switch. To move the room out, press the OUT section of the
switch and hold it until the motor stops (travel time is approx. 25 seconds). Operating
the switch after the room is fully extended will damage the switch and motor.
Make sure the interior slideout room path and the slideout room itself is clear
of people and objects before operating. Keep away from the slide rails and
gear assembly when the room is in motion. They may pinch or catch on loose
clothing causing personal injury. Failure to follow these instructions could

Make sure the slideout is in the closed position prior to hooking the unit to
the tow vehicle
Do not place excessive weight in the slideout room. It can cause the slideout
room to malfunction and cause damage to the slideout.

Additional support jacks are not needed under the slideout. Damage can occur
to your slideout room from improper use of aftermarket support jacks.
Make sure the vehicle is level before operating the slideout room.

There mixed message was what I talked to customer service about. Told to level first than slides but if u have problems than deploy slides first than level. So flip a coin. Heads level first. Tails deploy slides first. So now we are 100% sure what to do

Yeah it's been back and forth and it seems we all get different responses. I also think that this is a unit dependent issue as well. In my case and the OP. Our units have 2 opposing slides hanging past the rear axle which when you put down the stabilizers will flex the tail end of the unit. This could put added pressure on the back edges of the slides resulting in a bind.

A middle unit slide is going to react differently than a slide that has a stabilizer under it in one corner IMHO.

With that said, I have deployed and retracted under both conditions and have not noticed any issues. My issues all came from sequencing.

Just my observations with the longer units as there is frame flex.
