Purpose of battery disconnect on Eagle HT

So, what is the purpose of this. I just had my unit in storage for the longest sting since purchase. 3 weeks. The battery was too low to operate my jacks. Had to plug into the truck to hook up.

It is to prevent the battery from discharging due to parasitic draws when it sits unplugged.
Did you have the battery disconnected when you put it in storage?

It removes some of the parasitic load but the LP, CO detectors remain connected I think, the emergency brake switch too (it should have no draw unless the disconnect pin is pulled). 3 weeks is a bit short to draw the battery down, I can sit a couple of months without a problem. If you used the disconnect I'd suspect the battery is weak or there is something else using the battery you are unaware of. If your rig is pre-owned a prior owner may have made some electrical "improvements". You could remove the neg lead from the battery while in storage and see if your batt still looses its charge.

Purpose of battery disconnect on Eagle HT

It was a new unit. I did have the battery disconnected via the disconnect. I noticed a problem because I couldn't power up the leveling system to raise the landing gear. Usually that works even with it disconnected, but when connected, still no go. Showed 12.1 volts after the drive home from storage. We'll see what it does I guess after being plugged in all night.

Worst case scenario, I'll bother the dealer for a battery tomorrow or just go get a new one if it won't hold a charge.

Same problem with my 2017 325bhqs. After about a week or so the battery is too low to do anything useful. I always run the jacks with the truck hooked up and running. The auto leveler gets really angry when it runs low on power.

TxLoser,

This problem has been discussed a few times. Turns out there are quite a few things that the switch doesn't disconnect - including your slide out controllers, level-up system (if you have one), etc.

I did a long post on the problem and my solution here:
http://www.jaycoowners.com/forums/f6...tml#post424500

But most people just disconnect the battery by taking one of the wires off.

Clearly, you are not alone in this issue.. If you ever find yourself in a fit of blind rage when trying to hookup your trailer, just know you aren't alone.

Funny. Luckily, the battery wasn't tapped so just hooking up to truck got me what I needed. I guess I just expected a battery disconnect to be what the name describes.

Put a manual disconnect on the battery itself.
