Rain Noise.... Driving Me Crazy
We have a 2012 351 RLTS. When it rains out, even a light sprinkle it gets SO loud in the camper you can't hear yourself think. This past weekend our neighbors were in our camper when the rain started. They were freaked out at how loud it was in our camper vs. theirs. There is actually less noise from the slide out areas vs the regular roof. Has anyone heard of a way to dampen the rain noise? I will tell you this. I will NEVER buy another camper until I can sit in it while it's raining outside and listen to the roof.

But it's the best sleeping one can get on a rainy night.

I like the sound. It reminds me that I'm not in a tent. Good point though. We actually got to hear the rain on ours before we bought it.

Our 351RLTS is the same. I had to buy a cordless headphone to hear the TV. Sleeping is not a problem.

I was raised with five other kids under a metal roof in a Illinois farm house. I long for the days to be able to listen to those sounds again...
I will fall asleep in a heartbeat being under one...

I have a cabin with a metal roof, and when it rains I go sleep in the loft directly under the roof...nothing like it!

I love the sound too, but I think those pillow things that go in the vent holes quiet it down a lot.

I definitely love the popping roof rain sound. Nothing like it. In fact, I wish mine was louder.

When I was a youngster , we always loved to listen to the rain on our tent. The big difference between now and then was that if it rained too much when we were tenting, you were going to end up with a wet butt. Not the case when we moved up to something on wheels

With all the drought we've had down here, I will NEVER complain about rain. I don't care If I'm standing in it in a 3 pc suit, I'll spread my arms and look skyward with a silly grin on my face.
I used to worry about stuff getting wet, that's what kept me awake sometimes, but then I learned that it'll dry. I LOVE the sound of rain on canvas, and the smell of an approaching summer thunderstorm, especially now that I have a hard-sided TT to snuggle down in!

The noise surprised us at first when we bought the 23B and we came to love the noise quickly. The Bride and I would joke about going to the storage lot to sit in the HTT when it started raining. We were a bit disappointed when we got the 5th and didn't think the sound was as noticeable but we've gotten past that and still love the sound.

Ok I have to comment. No disrespect but....the TT is not a permanent structure. There is merely 4" of space between the roof and the ceiling material. A home will have the roof and maybe depending where you live 15-30" of truss space in some cases even more that is filled with insulation. Like others have said, it's the best nights sleep. Your going to hear everything in a TT. It's part of the package. I'm sorry if I sound insensitive.

Nope, good answer. Also how often do they camp in the rain? My concern when it rained was the mess that it was going to make on the trails and around the CG. Sorry, rain on the roof is pretty infrequent and just one of many sounds of nature we get to enjoy while camping.
