Rear Closet Bounce

Hi All, I would like to hear from the rear closet model owners. what kind of mods have you installed or concocted to keep your hanging clothes from leaping from the rod in transit and ending up on the floor? If you have any pics, please share them.
Thanks!

My closet is in the front cap but I have the same problem. Seems the closet walls flex during transit and the rod drops out of the cups that it sits into. I'm thinking I may just replace it with a standard metal closet rod (the kind you find in houses that slides to fit).

In your case, can you install a small screw through each cup into the rod to keep it from jumping out?
My rod stays put but the clothes hangers leap from the rod and commit suicide.

You may want to search the Internet for non slip hangers

I would try a spring rod, it should keep tension and not pop out of the cups. Cheap at somewhere like Bed, Bath and Beyond.

Not looking for non slip hangers as the clothing doesn't slip off, the hanger jumps off of the rod. The thumbnail you attached is not a non slip, it is a locking jaw which may help if I can find them. I was trying to keep the hangers as we simply transfer from the house to the camper and looking for what others have done to prevent it from occurring.

We have the same problem in our Greyhawk. The closet is in the far aft end of the bedroom. With the long overhang from the rear axle it gets pretty bouncy and the hanging clothes jump off of the rod.

It doesn't mess up my hanging stuff as it's hard to wrinkle flannel shirts. DW does not care to see her blouses heaped on the closet floor, though.

Wrap a length of paracord around the pole. Anchor the ends to a pad eye at each end.

Hanger goes between the wrapped cord and around the pole

About a five cent fix.

Our Jayco has factory installed black wire loom tubing on the wood rods which keeps everything in place.
https://www.amazon.com/Split-Wire-Lo.../dp/B002CJAWIW

Our previous two motorhomes had nothing and everything would up on the closet floor.

Thanks anyway. This question is directed to fifth wheel owners as it is posted in the fifth wheel category and motorhomes don't get near the bounce as a 40'+ 5er.

I could but Jayco saved on wood for the rod by making it barely long enough to stay in place anyway

All our motorhomes have all had a rear closet well beyond the rear wheels and only the Jayco has the black wire loom covering on the clothes hanger rod to prevent everything from bouncing off and onto the floor.
An RV in most aspects is an RV.
Our motorhomes have been 35, 36, and 40' in length.

Look at the top of the hangers... the hook that goes over the bar over lap each other not allowing it to come off the bar. It addresses the bar issue not clothes slipping off

Those look easy enough to use and probably an inexpensive solution. What also might be needed is a little owner thought and care to close the top button of garments, and if hanging pants to hang them along with a shirt.

Try putting the hangers on backwards... so the hanger opening faces towards the closet door.. doing that fixed my problem... (and it is a cheap mod my favorite kind)

I cut a length of PVC pipe in half (2" I think)... I put the PVC half on top of the hangers and secure it with a few strips of velcro...

Haven't lost any clothes since I've done that.

These work great. Available at Amazon, Wally World and Camping World.

Stay Put Hanger | Tri Lynx Corporation

As to the rod I just added an extra block of 1 X 2 under each end.

I am with Grumpy. We have used these hangars for a long time with no problems. They snap over the rod and stay put. Easy to pull off the rod to transport clothes between the house and rv.

I've had the rod down several times after a trip. First thing I did was to put a piece of that foam swim noodle sliced down the middle along the top of the pole... that helped. I've tried securing the pole into the cup but that didn't work either. Best solution has been to use the lower rack cups for the pole (assuming yours has these). Since moving the rack to the lower height, all our stuff stays in place.

Also Costco has some non-slip velvet hangers for about $10 a box that work great for keeping your clothes from sliding off the hangers themselves.

Pvc pipe

Cut 1" PVC pipe in half length wise and Velcro down with strips on each end and middle. No mire problems.
