Rear ladder installation on 26.5RKS

Has anyone installed a rear ladder on an Eagle HT 26.5 RKS? If not, what do you use to get up on the roof? Or do you get on the roof at all when on a camping trip?

I currently have a Jayco Super Lite, considering a purchase of a 2013 26.5 RLS HT. It does bother me that it doesn't have a roof ladder, or the option of ordering one. I feel that you really need roof access, especially when camping.
There are after-market ladders available, but the rear glass on the HT makes install a little iffy. Could be a deal-breaker for me, but definitely a nice rig otherwise.

I believe a permanently mounted ladder is the safest way to go, if possible.
You may want to contact service@jayco.com
Include your trailer VIN in the email. They will let you know if it's possible to install a ladder.

I email Jayco Service for the side-wall diagrams on my Toy Hauler and they promptly sent it. No questions asked.

Even if a permanently installed ladder is feasible, walking on your roof may be a problem. Some roofs are not structurally designed to carry much weight, and need something like a thin sheet of plywood to spread the weight while you are up there for maintenance. I would definitely check with Jayco and let them advise you on this. My experience is that if they didn't install a ladder at the factory, or offer it as an option, there is probably a good reason for that. JMHO

I suspect the rear vents and windows may be an issue in mounting a ladder due to further maintenance and service. Definitely check wiht Jayco to be sure a ladder can be mounted, the roof and read need adequate internal structure to support the load when in use.

Our TT didn't come with ladder on the back either, the dealer didn't want to put one on because of the rear kitchen. We bought a telescoping ladder to use with the TT. It collapses down to a very reasonable size, is lightweight yet sturdy, stores in the TT yet it comes in handy around the house when needed as well. They are way cheaper than having one installed on your trailer. Check ebay or amazon, lots of them around.

I have a collapsible ladder that compresses down to abut 2' x 3' tall. takes very little room and is great when I have to go up and clean or adjust the solar panels. Or clean the roof or any other job required up there.

I'd have to agree.

But, it I would want a perminatly mounter ladder to acess the roof, I'd figure out what would be needed to install one, right down the center.

15.5 Ft. Telescoping Ladder Pro Series Ergonomic Design Type I, they come in different size and are light weight, bought one for the house and it would work great on an RV.

Since my earlier reponse to you about the roof ladder on the Eagle 26.5 RLS, I have this unit on order. I then went on EBay and ordered a collapsible 12.5 ft ladder. It arrived yesterday, and I feel it will definitely do the job. It will fit in the compartment, and weighs only 26 lbs. Problem solved, and no ladder to obstruct the view out the rear window. I hope this helps.

Well, I finally got an answer. After no response to my two emails I decided to call customer service (should have done that to start with). Come to find out there is blocking for a permanent ladder and CS said its o.k. to have a Jayco dealer install one so she sent me the back wall schematic. The blocking is at the very left side so a permanent ladder will cover the window to some extent, but that does not bother me. The collapsible ladder looks good and the "jury" is still out on that one but I am leaning toward the permanent ladder at this point. BTW, its o.k. to walk on the roof of the RKS26.5 5er, just need to be careful.
Thanks for all the feedback!

I bought this one last year to use with our 23J. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...ls_o08_s00_i00
I wish I could return it now because or new trailer is coming with the roof ladder already attached. But the telescoping ladder was great and very easy to use!

I have been wanting to install a ladder on my 29X, also. I just sent Jayco an email requesting the specs.

Bad news from Jayco. Due to the fact that the rear wall in my TT is a vacuum sealed wall, I cannot install a ladder. I guess I'll keep the folding ladder on board.

As I noted before, I have ordered the HT RLS26.5, also am going to use the collapsible ladder to access the roof. I would be interested in seeing the schematic of the back wall that Jayco sent to you.

I don't think the 26.5 RKS schematic would work for your unit due to the rear window configuration. If you call Jayco, they will send the correct one to you in an email attachment. They sent it to me while I was on the phone with them...quick!
