Refrigerator won't Work on LP

Before I go and spend a wasted day back at the dealer, perhaps some of you can give me some things to check first. Just got back from a weekend trip. My refrigerator would not work on LP. I filled the tank, and the stove and oven worked fine all weekend, so I know gas is being delivered. But the refrigerator won't light and the beeping indicator comes on about 2 minutes after switching over. It works fine on AC. Any ideas?

suggest that you clean out the orifice for the burner as they tend to get clogged up from spiders and other critters.

I think the 2 minute thing is the fridge trying some number of times to light the burner before declaring failure. I'd say there's three things that could go wrong. Fuel, fire and air.
Is gas getting to the burner?
Is it able to make a spark?
Is airflow blocked (insect activity)?
I believe you should be able to hear gas flowing and the spark click from outside.

I recently had the same issue on my 2003 281rls after replacing the propane tanks. While trouble shooting I discovered the igniter sparking as it should, The orifices where all clean. I could hear the gas valve click as it should to open and flow gas but I could not hear gas flowing. Finally after prabably 20 attempts I seen and could hear a small flame light off then go out. After a couple of more attemps the flame stayed lit and works fine now. Conclusion: the gas line filled with air when I changed the propane tanks.

After sitting in storage with the gas off I find I have to cycle the fridge a couple of times before it will light. Lighting the stove helps to speed up the process tho. It sounds like Legal's problem sounds a little more fundamental. It is odd that it seems to have started after filling the tank.
Legal, you get the thing to go?

My brand-new fridge gas orifice clogged from aluminum filings from the manufacture of the gas delivery tube. Field repaired during first boondocking trip.

Fine on gas or 110 ever since (4 weeks and 2 days, so far).

I did get it going, but not sure why. I removed the cover and there did not seem to be any clogging or "nesting" that would cut it off. Put the cover back on and tried to light for about the 7th time. It finally kicked on.

Best guess would be lots of air in line. A poor mixture will not lite.

Propane only burns if mixed with air between 2.15 and 9.60 % propane to air mixture.. More air it won't burn, more propane it won't burn either.. I agree you probably had air in your line, and the small amount of propane mixture the pilot light would need, would take a long time to purge the line of the improper mixture.

Now that it's working - make sure the temperature is spot-on

AND we got a great wireless digital thermometer to make sure temps are safe.

For safety reasons the electronic pilot units only allow the propane to flow for a short time during the ignition and flame detection/verification cycle. Typically it is 3 tries and you're locked out. During the process not much gas volume gets purged out through that little propane orifice.

Gone are the days of a standing pilot where you could hold the pilot button in to make certain that the line was purged to be full of propane. As was mentioned, depending upon the trailer gas piping layout it is often worthwhile to first light the manual valve range burners. The manual stove burners will purge the system piping at a much higher volume, vic

On the 19RD, the manifold is located in the REAR left corner. The tanks on the tongue. All of the appliances tie back to the 1 manifold.

I light the stove with a BBQ lighter so I can monitor the purging of the tank-to-manifold link. The lighter often gets blown out by the non-flammable gas in the lines.

Then the water heater, furnace and fridge.

The fridge is the most finicky. The manual even suggests 3 tries of 30 seconds each to purge the line.
