Roof Warrenty

Okay, was on the roof today and found an ever so slightly rip in the roof fabric at the very front of the front a/c unit, it's small, no abrasions close to it or marks, the camper was purchased new last August, is this something the Jayco warranty covers? Or our 7 year service plan will cover? I've also got a few other items where the trim is pulling away at the rear of roof and some small things if like them to repair before warranty is out

Sounds like your dealer will need to look at it to determine if its warranty or not. I would take pictures of everything you are concerned about, if the dealer says no send them to Jayco. Some dealers are just plain lazy and don't submit claims to Jayco, this way you can get Jaycos attention if needed, hopefully you have a good dealer.

I already know my dealer is very low on ratings for service, by me and lots of others, but I do plan to approach this as friendly as possible, they supposedly recently got a new service manager

I've had my 2016 FW a little over a year and the entire rear of the camper is delaminating. Jayco denied the warranty claim. It wasn't even the roof leaking. It was the running lights at the top that were leaking. Now, under the awning is starting to bubble and delaminate also. Jayco said 6 months then it's my responsibility to maintain. My dealer is acting like they are going to bat for me. We'll see what happens. Good luck.

Damage to the roof is already done.

If you've had the unit longer than 6 months, unfortunately, that repair is on you.

So what's y'all opinion on what I should do, or put on it? I take it even the good sam extended warranty won't cover it?

I would get a roll of Eternabond tape and cleaner asap. You'll need a small roller to apply the tape most efficiently. If there's rain in the forecast before you get the Eternabond, do whatever it takes for a temporary fix. [Duct tape?] Don't let any more water in there to minimize damage.

I would suspect when the ac was installed it snagged the roof. Hard to prove it.

If your handy, order a roll of eternabond tape, maybe 6 inch wide, a new ac gasket. Pull the AC, clean the roof and apply eternabond over the tear, and maybe all around the openning, apply the new gasket, and reassembly.

Could call Jayco with your Vin number and see what they will say.

Could also talk with you insurance.

If it was my tt, I would rather have an eternabond patch, then remove all the trim and reapply a new rubber roof.

As others have said tape over it. I don't think any warranty will cover that, this is why extended warranties are something I will never purchase.

How long are you planning on keeping your rigs? A rubber roof will leak. It is just a matter of when and how bad and will you catch it in time. I know I'm big time biased against any any rubber roof since mine failed after 5 years. Water was leaking through the membrane and the roof manufacturer's warranty was completely worthless.

There is only one solution IMHO - RV Flex Armor. It is expensive, but much cheaper than replacing an entire rig that has rotted away before you even know it is happening and zero caulk to worry about and replace constantly.

Go to RVRoof | Home of the original sprayed RV Roof. I have stated this many times, but I would take a brand new rig and have the roof sprayed before I even took it home and consider this upgrade just part of the purchase price.

I got a quote from the folks in Charlotte NC and it was $5,760 plus tax. You weren't kidding when you said expensive

Is there a place to check the service rating of a dealer? If not maybe we should add an area or place on this site to do just that.

If that tear occurred during the ac install someone should have seen it long before now, I sure hope it has not been leaking since August.

Pretty sure mine is very new, I've been up there multiple times and never seen it, and I look pretty good every trip when pulling in/sweeping slide tops. Also, board below seems pretty solid still
