The ongoing discussion on satellite wiring reminded me of an incident last April at the Nellis AF Base family camp. We had a clear view of the southern sky yet could get no signal. The guy next to us had the same problem. The camp is on the north side of the base so the active runways were to our south. We were just overnighting and left before the office opened the next morning so I didn't get a chance to ask them but I wonder if the AF was blocking the signal for some reason? Has anyone else on the forum had a similar experience?
It is possible that the ILS system was interfering with your satellite reception.

My son just retired from the AF last year. He said it is a very good possibility that all non-AF signals could be blocked, especially by that particular base. Don't know why that particular base, but that's all he would/could say.
