short bed SRW towing 5er

Been towing my 36FBTS all summer with a 2014 F350 LB 6.7. Absolutely no issues. Pulls and stops like a champ. Mountains were no problem. But, ran across the cat scales last week on my way to the campground. Rear axle on these trucks are 7000lb. I was 6940. GVWR of the truck is 11500lbs and I was 12100. It was only a weekend trip and we were lightly packed. I couldn't believe I was that close to the max weight. I know the truck will easily handle the load, but really got me thinking now.

F350 SRW and 6.5' box, 37' total trailer length
Gross combined full of 270L of fuel, water, food is 23,000Lb
I also have on board air and an automatic levelling system to run the helper bags, otherwise I would be riding on the overload springs with the 3,000lb pin weight.
Pulls at 115 kph with barely a downshift.
EGT stays in the 700 degree range on the flats, under 1200 degrees on any hills i've encountered so far.
Only issues I have are that I can only achieve about a 70 degree turn angle, but much more than that and youre scrubbing the tires pretty hard anyways.

Definitely diesel 6.7,I have an SCT livewire tuner,set on tow mode of course, s&b cold air intake, air bags,compressor,b&w companion 5w hitch . That 6.7 has absolutely no problem pulling or slowing it down when the transmission downshifts. Got 13 mpg at 21000 lbs and 65 mph on the interstate.

I have towed the rig around locally no faster than 65 mph, and it feels really good,just curious how the rig will feel in the mountains. Power wise,absolutely no concern,transmission does great,braking is awesome with the tow mode on, I was 21000 total on the scales. Truck front axle was 4940,rear axle 6140 trailer was 9920 on the axles I believe. The trailer total is 12000 right now.

Sorry, I neglected that point. Yes SRW. I think for DRW you have to get a long bed.

You worry about what in the montains ? To go up is no problem with the truck and to go down you simply slow on top and let the engine brake you.

Not tested my rig in the Big long mountains but I did go place that people are affraid to go without à trailer , hills so steep that the rear dragged. The trick is to slow down whatever machine you have.

We are towing the Jayco Eagle 33.5RETS which is 36 feet I do believe. Pulling with the 2015 Ram 2500 6.7L Cummins and no problem. Do have the mid size bed at 6.4" I do believe with a slider. I have never used the slider in over 2 years of pulling. Had a 2007 Ram 2500 before with also the 6.4" bed and 5.9L Cummins. I just watch closely when backing and don't get into a situation where I need to jack knife it in.

We are also towing a Jayco 33.5 RETS with an F-250 SWR short bed (6 feet 10 inches) with 6.7 diesel. Recently completed a 6501.1 mile (should have taken a 1.1 mile shortcut somewhere!) trip from NC west over the rockies at 8600 feet to Grand Teton NP, then Yellowstone NP, then to Glacier NP, then back home. Towed like a dream. A special pat on the back to the Ford. Up and down the rockies and the truck ran like a charm at altitude! I have a slider, but only use it backing in my own driveway!

No issues whatsoever. I've used my slide hitch to twice, but the times were for familiarization vs. really needing it. Pulled through the mountains in PA and TN with no problems.

Ram 2500 and Eagle 323LKTS. Overall length of the trailer is just over 37'. No idea what my weights are as I haven't been to a scale, but based on my yellow sticker and loading habits, I'm guessing we're around 11,500 lbs.

I pull a 2015 Pinnacle 36FBTS with a 2016 Ram SRW it's a long bed.
I pull it up and down I-81 and very happy with the way it pulls.

Rams are beast for sure. I had an 07 sb when the new 6.7 came out and it wouldn't get out of its own way with a 29' lite weight fifthwheel when ay highway speeds and needing to pass some one. I bought it new,had it 3 months and was in shop 5 times. New turbo...etc... turns out it was all due to the new emission system that was required and it was first year dodge had used it. If you remember that same year fords were catching on fire due to the emissions.Dodge bought my truck back and I ended up with a 1500 that I kept for 5 years,best truck I ever owned. Dodge has since fixed all that emissions crap and in my opinion is the toughest truck on the road even though I drive an F250. That being said, all of the big 3 Chevy,Dodge,and Ford definitely build capable diesels (I've owned a new one of each) and power wise will tow waaaaayyyyyy more than they're rated for.

I would classify 6.5 ' as short bed. Not a long bed 8'
