Slide Maintenance

I was looking at the slides on my 32BHDS and see the tubes underneath look grimly with grease and dirt. I thought about taking some degreaser, cleaning them off, and degreasing them. However, the manual says not to grease. Both slides work well, but are slow even on shore power. You can really tell when the voltage is low. Anyway, what should I do?
