Squeeky Hitch

Backing down the driveway and my hitch was squeeling. There was grease on the hitch. Occurred when I was turning. Any suggestions? Thanks.

If it is a WDH or you have friction type sway control, expect it.

Also, the brakes will make some real funny noises when being rubbed the 'wrong' way.

If it screams like a banshee, that means it's working.

This was posted in the 5th Wheel forum, so this setup doesn't have a WDH or sway control.

You said the sound came from the hitch. My Reese hitch requires occasional spraying with white lithium aerosol grease on all of its pivot points besides the jaws. If I don't do periodically, my hitch sounds like my knees after I have been sitting for a while.

And, as was stated brakes can make squealing sounds. You might want to check to make your brake shoes/pads aren't down to the wear indicators.

Good luck and Happy Thanksgiving

What do you have for a hitch setup?

One fix for one spot is a Teflon pad. But that does nothing for the other pivot points.

My mounting points were squeaking on my hitch where the pins hold it in place.
