Stabilizing Fifth Wheel

Even with my rear stabilizing jacks down I still have quite a lot of movement when any one is moving around. Was wondering if I used a jack stand on each side of the frame near the tires would that make any difference. What does anyone recommend to stop some of the shaking?

You need a kingpin stabilizer. We got one for our last trip and it eliminated over 90% of the rocking and rolling.

If you think about where the wiggle is coming from, you can take steps. I also use a king pin tripod for the front to back bounce. The rv sits on wheels that want to roll so a set of x-chocks between then helps with that. Still not 100% movement free but pretty close.

Agreed. Removed almost all the motion. Some x-chocks between the wheels and the unit is solid as a rock. The king pin stabilizer never worked for us and was a pain to haul around and set up.

Yes. I permanently attached them to each side, just in front of the wheels, and they work very well.
I've tried the kingpin stabilizer and it does not work for me, for some reason (if you decide to go this way, I have one for sale ).

I went to the extreme, but I am over 40ft long so the bounce was pronounced. In doing so I have the Steady Fast arms, x chocks and 6 points of contact in the rear 3/4's of the trailer with 4 scissor jacks as well as the 2 original stabilizers included. The 4 I added take almost all the bounce out of my unit.

If you are going to go with one then the arms are the way to go and will take out a lot of wiggle.

It takes another 5 minutes for set up and break down as all are attached and require no storage with the exception of the x chocks. My kids are in charge of getting the stabilizers close to the ground with me finishing them off so as to not apply to much pressure.

We use the X-Chocks for the wheels as well. But, our Kingpin stabilizer worked well in stop making us feel we're on a cruise ship, when we're in the bedroom. Plus, we use the stabilizer as a place to lock up our bicycles at night.

Put JT Strongarm on a couple months ago. A lot better. Couldn't be happier.

We use JT Strongarms and x chocks which has removed almost all the motion in the trailer.

I used a king pin tripod sometimes when the nose has to be raised up due to slant of camping site. But I will say that the x-chocks made the most noticeable difference in motion.

I was not impressed with king pin stabilizer. Decided it was not worth the room to haul it around. Another thing that works is to stack blocks under the levelers to shorten the leveler throw. After adding the blocks and the levelers are finished getting level raise the levelers about two inches more to relieve the weight on the suspension. It does reduce the movement but you will need to haul blocks. X type wheel chocks help add to the stabilization.

Thank you folks for all the input on the kingpin stabilizer. It was something that we were seriously considering. I know that this isn't the right forum but the other addition were wondering about is the surge protector. 22 years of camping and never had any issue but thinking maybe it is time?

Look at Progressive Industries for electrical protection.

If you have a tendency to stay in out of the way, older, lightly populated campgrounds you should invest in a surge protector. Progressive industries has a good selection.

The EMS is much more than just surge protection. This is what I've been using, and recommending, for years.
Progressive Industries 30 Amp Portable Electrical Management System - Surge Guards - Power Protection - Electrical
Prices vary a lot so shop around. They stand by their products very well too.
