Standalone Dinette Set

Can any of you folks who have the standalone dining table and four chairs in an Eagle HT describe a little about the set? I'm interested in knowing its dimensions, how it's anchored for traveling, whether there's storage under the chair seats, over quality, and if the table extends, etc.

Thanks

The table extends in our 351RLSA, so they are available if you're inquiring to see about converting yours.

Thank you both for your replies. Yes, we're considering swapping out but I'm kicking myself for not paying the extra $ when I ordered the trailer. Seems like there's only about 40" available lengthwise else when the slide retracts, the table would interfere with the storage cabinets. That's why I asked if the table itself extends.

We have the 4 chair setup in out trailer. Its ok, we find the table which is screwed to the floor wiggles/shakes quite easily. Also we do not try and move the chairs when sitting down or standing up, we slide into them,as you would in a booth. There is not enough space to move the chairs and then slide them under you as you sit.

That is valuable info, thanks... I like the storage the standard dinette set offers under the seats but I find it uncomfortable to sit for very long on those foam cushions. Now that you mention it, there isn't a whole lot of room between the table and the seats so I guess it wouldn't be much different with moveable chairs.

We like the chair and table set because you can easily pull the chairs out to change up the seating inside the camper. I was able to almost eliminate the table shake by tightening the screws that mount the table to the slide floor (they were fairly loose when I checked them). The table top is 40x26, height is 29. The underside has an apron that limits your leg room between the seat and the bottom of the table. It could easily be raised up with shims under the pedestal. There are no tie down points for the chairs. They seem to travel fine free standing. We offset the backs slightly so they won't rub each other or the wall in transit.

SawBuck,

Thanks for the info on the dimensions... now I see how the slide can close completely without interference. I also didn't know the table was a pedestal type so that should give you a little more free access to the seating.

Do you find the seats comfortable for sitting more than 15 mins?

Yes, the cushions are plush but firm enough not to bottom out after sitting on them for a while. They also make a decent ottoman for the couch too. :-)

Here's what we use for an ottoman... found it on Amazon. It folds up and fits easily between the side of the sofa and the wall on the slide. It's lightweight and sturdy enough to hold me up (200 lbs) while I put on my shoes. When you're finished camping, you simply collapse it, fold it and put it away. Works great!

On our 321RLTS we have no wiggle of the table, guess my dealer took care of that at prep as they provided a bungee that we lace thru the chair legs traveling.
we had a booth when we had a winnie MH and allways hated it and really like the table/chairs

Oh and I should mention that it holds a lot of junk like shoes, dog toys, leashes, or whatever while you're actually camping.

Thanks Poohbear. Our friends have the table and chairs in their camper and I found them to be much more comfortable when sharing a meal. I'm trying to get a few quotes now... still kicking myself for not spending the extra $500 to buy it when I ordered the trailer.

We also have the table and 4 chairs and find the chairs very comfortable. the ability to move the chairs nice when you have to ad more seating with guests in the living room area. Table wobble we had was eliminated by tightening the screws into the floor, just have to pop off the wooden plugs. Enough storage elsewhere that didn't find a need for more. We wrap a bungee around one of each chair legs and the table pedestal, no movement.

I'm pretty much sold on the comfort aspect. Losing the under-the-seat storage is a con because we keep things like bottled water and other stuff there but I think we can find alternatives. I'm in the process of obtaining quotes now but it isn't cheap. Cost may turn out to be the deciding factor in whether or not we do the upgrade. Wish me luck!

Well, I bit the bullet yesterday and ordered the complete set from Jayco Parts Direct (aka Valley RV in WA). They gave me the best price and even worked with me to reduce it further. Now the wait... estimated ship date for parts is June 5. Wish me luck in the switch-out.

New question: For you guys with the standalone dinette set... on our current setup, we have an electric receptacle that's mounted facing inside under the seat nearest the sofa. Once I remove the existing seat frames, I'll have to find a good spot for this receptacle.

Where is this located and how is it mounted on your trailer?

We have a surface mount receptacle box on the wall close to the floor. You can see part of the box in the pic of our table.

Ours is mounted on/in the wall itself.
