Stowing chairs in a 26.5 RLS

Went for the walkthrough yesterday. Picking it up tomorrow morning. Our version has the airmattress sofa, dining table with four chairs, and the two swivel padded chairs. We did not see what it was like with the slides in before buying. (our bad).
With the slide in, the dealer had put one of the padded chairs right in the enterance to the doorway, to free enough space for the slide to come in. That chair is a pain to have to push back across the floor/carpet transition to it's home position after the slide goes out, as well as getting it back out of the way upon retraction. Almost a two person job to move it. Plus, of course, it barricades the door preventing entry to get to the kitchen without putting the slide out.
Is there a better place to stow it? Has someone come up with castors/glides or some other that makes it easier to push and pull across the floor/carpet?

More about the PDI and first drive home in a coming post. Let's just say there was a reason there was a day delay before bringing it home.....

We have the 26.5 RLS and don't find it to be a big deal to move the chair to get the slide in. And, they aren't really that heavy that it's too hard to move them. I just pick the chair up by the back and move it far enough over to get the slide in, don't really have to barricade the door and the trailer is available for use, even with the slide in. Don't let that "problem" be the deciding factor on the trailer.

We also have the 26.5 RLS HT. We removed two of the dining chairs, stow the recliner on the aft side of the dining table for travel. With a little experimenting you will find that the recliner is very easy to slide if grasped from behind. This may not work as well for you if you need the extra dining chairs...I hope this helps.

We also have the 26.5 RLS and do the same as jal0710. I put the chairs back-to-back when closed up and travelling. Still have plenty of access to the trailer when it's closed.

We have the same living arrangement in our 27 DSRL. Not sure the demensions are the same, but the chair closest to the slide can be turned 90 degrees and pushed up against the rear wall and the slide will clear it. Chair next to the door remains where it normally sits.

Thanks all - not sure if we are talking the same thing - we have the rocking recliners, which have a big metal hoop with 8 small feet for the base. Those small feet seem to make it tough on carpet to slide, and are already leaving marks on the linoleum. Yes, picking up from the back seems to be the best way to move the one that needs to move. Not enough clearance to push it to the back. I like the idea of replacing two of the dining chairs - it is just the DW and I (well, plus dogs, but they hardly ever sit at the table). Plan "B" might be either a big disk attached to the hoop, with furniture glides on it, or some kind of furniture moving sling that provides "handles" to more easily pick it up and move. Not really that heavy, just very awkward....

Other than that , we are very pleased with the construction, the layout, and the overall quality. While the seasoned pros may shudder, our first ever trip will be a bit more than a "local" first time- 3,800 mi rt to the East Coast and back. (We did driveway camp a few nights, and did test drive it around town a lot...) Leave next week, if the 6" of snow (IN MAY!!!) coming tonight melts by then.....

We don't have recliners, just the swivel rockers, which are probably a bit lighter and less bulky. Even the rockers we have are just a tad bit too big to slide far enough to the rear for the slide to clear. We enjoyed ours last year for about 30 nights. Very roomy with the slides out and cooked on the outside stove a couple of times when it was very nice out. When down at Zion in April, seems the AC worked very hard to cool the FW down when the temps were above 90, but we very seldom camp in those temps, so it was a minor inconvenience, not a big deal. Television worked fine at Zion, didn't have any reception in Grand Teton, but we did watch a DVD or two and that worked well also. We had more than enough clothes storage for each of our trips, with almost not clean clothes in the wardrobe slide, most of ours were in the two "closets" next to the bed. We don't have a television in the bedroom, and probably won't get one there. We usually go to bed late enough that television is the last thing we want to turn on. Hope you like your FW as much as we have ours.
