Successful Pick-up-321 RLTS

Picked up my 321 RLTS Friday from Bates RV in Dover, FL which is just east of Tampa. Drove 945 miles to pick it up and all I can say is, "my wife and I love it!" You might wonder why I traveled so far to buy a 5th wheel and here is why. After seeing the 2013 Eagle Premiers, I was not sold on the new exterior color or the black A/C covers and awning living here in Louisiana. It is hot enough here and I didn't want a 5th wheel that would absorb the heat so the hunt was on for a 2012 model. There was specific options I was looking for like 2 A/Cs and thermal pane windows which is almost a must in the South due to the heat. Also wanted the slide-out awnings, Mor-ryde pin box, free-standing dinette, and generator prep package. I found the 5th wheel that I bought about 3 months ago but continued looking nationwide thinking I would find one closer but could not. After going back and forth about whether to purchase from a dealer so far from home, I pulled the trigger. Between e-mail and phone, I worked out a deal with the salesman that I was extremely happy with. Left out Thursday morning from Shreveport, LA and arrived at the dealer Friday morning after a lay over about three hours from the dealership. Experience at the dealership was great, found no issues during the PDI even after I made a three page list of thing to look for from advice I got from the owners here. Left the dealership and got to use 5th wheel that night at Big Oaks RV park in Tallahassee, FL. Slept like a baby and the A/Cs work great. Left out Saturday morning, took our time drove along the Alabama and Mississippi coast. Spent out second night in the 5th wheel at Hollywood Casino RV Park in Bay St. Louis, MS. Left out this morning and arrived home this afternoon after a visit with the parents in Central Louisiana. Love the 5th wheel and I am sure that I will be asking for tips and advice in the future. Knowing about Jayco quality, I felt good buying form a dealer so far away. Hopefully there will be no issues and the small stuff I will take care on my own.

Congratulation, You sound like you are breaking it in right. What are you dragging it with?

You need to watch the lower left corner of the bedroom slide. I have one just like yours and I got a crack about 4 inches long there. Was repaired by Jayco at thier factory without any problem. It is a pretty extensive repair however and the repair people told me it is not an uncommon repair for that trailer. I really like mine and I hope you do not have the problem I had. Just keep a watch at that location and call Jayco if it happens.

Left corner from inside or outside of the camper?

We got the same 2012 model 321 RLTS in march. We just got back from an 8,000 mile trip. The 5th wheel preformed well with only one issue, the seals in the axles were wrong and there was grease all over the brake shoes.

Bottom left corner outside. Problem was corner brace either was not properly welded or came loose.

Thanks for the heads up. I can see light on that side from the inside out. I'm thinking it must be the weather stripping not all the way over.

I was told that because the brace came loose, it allowed some movement which caused the crack. It moved about 4 inches and then stopped. Facxtory told me it would not have gotten any larger. They rewelded and also added more bracing. I did not see any light, so I would guess that yours is the seal.

Sorry I disappeared for a couple of days and did not reply, schedule has been full. Norty 1, my tow vehicle is a 2007 GMC Sierra Classic 2500HD 4X4 CCSB with Duramax/Allison combination. Very happy with the way it performed pulling the 5th wheel. I just have to be mindful of the short bed and not to do anything stupid.

Traindriver, thanks for the heads up on the bedroom slide, I will keep an eye on it. I have a question for all of you with the rocker recliners, what way do you secure them? Do you strap them together? I remember someone on the forum put a bolt in to keep it from rocking when traveling, then removed it when they arrived at destination. Just curious if they stay in place when not strapped while traveling.

I haven't strapped ours down, just placed it in the corner and it was in the same spot when we got to the campground.
