The remote can be installed where you can see it constantly or not. BUT it is useful because for those who install thier EMS behind a panel where you can never access it how would you read the code if you didn't have the remote display? How would you bypass the unit if it fails and you can't access it. With the remote!
So it's not about "saving money" because you can just read the code on top of the cheaper model or the remote is a "silly option", it is a very important piece of the EMS.
