Texas heat and Duel Pane windows

Last august I camped out when it was 104 deg. no shade
My 2010 Designer with 2 a/cs and duel pane windows would only keep it to 87 deg. inside, is this normal, or should it keep it much cooler inside?

I have the same 5'er and in central Alabama back in August-September I had no problem keeping my temp in the 70's. It wasn't 104 degrees, but it was in the high 90's with high humidity. Both units would cycle on/off during the afternoon. Granted they were on more than off, but they did cycle.

I would think it should cool down below 87 however it would depend on how often the door was opened and closed, cooking would add heat, showering would add humidity. Lots of things to take into consideration but 87 is a bit warm if your running 2 A/C's.

That is no cooking or shower and the doors closed, shades closed, very unconfortable,
Still under warranty , guess I need to get it checked out

I also live in Texas and understand the heat!. Last summer my old camper 29 FBS would not cool down in the afternoon ( 102-104 outside ). I sprayed the top of the camper and the air cond. unit with the water hose for about 10-15 minutes. It helped out and lowered the temp in the camper. In Texas, you need to camp under the shade or the air cannot handle the 104 temp. I bought a new camper 365 BHS this fall and having air flow issues. Go to Air Flow and look at the modification I made to my camper. Alot of the your air flow is lost under the cover on the ceiling. You have to help the air into the vents under the cover.

If you take off the back air cond. cover inside the camper. You see two vent intakes on both sides. I took cardboard and made a V out of the cardboard. I put the cardboard with the point pointing towards the top of the unit. The ends of the v needs to fit in the vents on both sides. This will push the air into the vents on both sides. My airflow increased alot after I put the cardboard in the unit. I learned this fix from another camper who had the same problem. Hope it helps. Jayco needs to test out their campers in Texas in August!

20 Degree drop in full sun... IF you expect more you dont need an A/C unit you need a refrigeration unit.... told to me by an A/C refrigeration specialist..

to add to TayLorj add I would install bubble wrap insulation on the windows; google industrial bubble wrap made for insulation purposes not just old plain bubble wrap that is use to cushion items on postal deliveries... You can find this up North as well , for instance in Menards- it like a home depot but better

here a site you can visit to buy bubble wrap insulation... I would buy the 4ft wide plus what ever you for length ... this way if you have big windows you can cover it complete in one cut... I installed double warped on mine for every window...

Agreed! 20 - 25 degree drop from ambient is about all that can be expected. If you are getting more than that you are doing good!

If you get a 20 degree split between the discharge and the return air, your AC is doing what it is supposed to do. If you have an Amprobe, there is a way to tell if it is correctly charged by measuring current draw.
