I can only speak of the one I own. I have no issues with my tire minder system, I like it and depend on it.

I have a Tire Minder. It can be a little confusing to set up but there is a great set up video to watch at Camping World. If you still have a question you can call the Tire Minder support number. Their phone support is 110%

Does the TST 507 need metal valve stems to use? I know I'd like to have metal stems installed, but don't have them done yet. I'm guessing its ok to use the system for a short period of time before upgrading to metal stems.

Yes, I would go with metal prior to using or your valves will move and release air as you drive on the Aluminum rims.

The factory metal rim valves seem to take more abuse.

When I put mine on the factory stems they leaked just putting them on.

I took a few trips without the metal stems and decided to change them out after a short while. Advance auto parts had them for less than $2 each. I purchased 12 and had them all swapped out trailer and truck. I had the trailer tires balanced at the same time. The valve stems have already been used on 2 sets of tires, they don't go bad.
