When I put mine on I argued with the "kid" at the tire shop they needed to be balanced. He said there was no point. I said why not? He balanced them. For Chinese tires I was impressed the first three balanced out all under 5 oz the 4th took 13 oz.

I got my tires and wheels from trailertiresandwheels.com. They came mounted and balanced. They mounted the balance weights, out of site, on the inside of the rim. When I need to get new tires I will insist that they get balanced as well.

Well, I finally had my Tomax moment. Took my Eagle in yesterday for preventative maintenance. I noticed one of the tires was not wearing properly so asked that they put on the new spare and check them all out. They just called me back. The tire not wearing evenly and the one in front of it were both separating. I got in just in time. Going to have to replace them so will replace all 4, maybe 5. Got to look for good deals.

By the way, if as someone said before, everyone who has a problem with Towmax tires reports it to NHTSA, we could probably get a recall on these Blowmax. I am reporting mine!

Our unit is at the dealer to get some warranty work, front cap painting. I came in with a printed copy of the towmax recall, I had called Jayco and they said my tires were covered under warranty. The dealer is working with our local Discount Tire to replace 4 tires, since we replaced one tire already.
I will post an update.

Try this
http://www.tirebusiness.com/article/...wmax-str-tires
According to this info, it is not a wholesale recall.

As we speak they are removing the old wheels and tires, re packing hubs, inspecting brakes, etc. I'm going to call them and ask them to inspect the tires when they come off for issues. I'm also going to call Jayco and see if they will do anything for me, after I find out condition of the tires.

Looks like the recall is D Range 15" tires. The 16" E rated aren't part of it apparently.

Yes, the 16 inch is not part of the recall. IF you call Jayco, they will refer you to the tire distributor who they get their tires from. We took one in to where they told us to take it and they would not exam it on the rim. My Jayco dealer had no way to dismount the tire so it did not get checked out. However, I will purchase all new tires the first part of this next week and they will get to see all of them dismounted. Also, when talking to the distributor about these blowmax tires I asked if they were aware of the problems with these tires and did they monitor any forums. They do monitor several including Jaycoowners. They also stated upon examining the failed tires, the majority of them were not the fault of the tire! Go figure that one. I guess we all aren't monitoring our tire pressures etc. When they tell me that when they examine my tires, my blood pressure will go up. And I have to go for a check up this next week too. Oh boy.........

That is the exact legal response. Blame it on the owners neglect. It is frustrating when you know different!

That's exactly why I didn't even bother trying to get my 16" Towmax tires warrantied. Two of them failed after I had towed less than 2000 miles. I just bought four new Maxxis tires and went on about my business.

I hate to say it, from observations most of the people are not as well informed as those who actively interact on an RV forum. Must of us have seen and heard of tire issue and limitations.
I have a friend with a close to a 9K pound TT, he does not think twice at pulling it at 75-85 mph. I have talked with many who never check their tire pressures. Others who don't know anything about maximum tow capacity of their vehicle. Boaters seem to be the worst.

I also got rid of the 4 Blowmax tires on our rig this week. I had 1,050 miles on them but I did not want to wait for a problem after reading all the horror stories. To tell you the truth, as I commented to my wife, I think the rig tows better with the new tires. I don't think I'm imagining that, since I would not expect that. I was a little surprised with how it towed. (Maybe just my mind, warped as always ) I have some regret that I did not change out the spare too.

Just finished a 2000 mile trip, I have been reading the forum and one of the recommendations was to fill the tires to the max recommended pressure in the sidewall (that happens to be the same as the one posted in the rv)
Every time we stop for fuel I will touch the wheels, thinking that I could tell how hot they were (not very scientific)..... but to my surprise they were cool .... or at least much cooler than my truck tires.
No issues during the trip, but I keep looking just in case, I did however packed our 5 ton jack "just in case" and did not exceeded 70 mph. During the entire trip. I think for my own piece of mind that during the winter I will ask my local tire store for a quote on replacement tires, .......

just replaced the four on mine that were d rated with e rated maxxis, had less than 2000 miles on them but even at sidewall pressure they still always looked too low to me... the e rated and 80 psi made a world of difference, we will see how she tows in a week or so when I take a trip but I would be willing to bet it has less rolling resistance

When I took my blowmax tires off, they we all in good condition so far, then again we really haven't gone far on them. Warranty rep says call Tredit for warranty issues for tires. Anyone know if they are still ok if I should even bother contacting them? Can I send them back to them based on their performance these days? Recall is on 15" D rated towmax so doesn't apply. Thx.
