We pull a 2016 351rsts with a 2016 ram 3500 drw 4:10 rear end. We just picked it up Friday. What a difference in towing compared with a travel trailer even a shorter lighter one. I only pulled it 2 hours from the dealer but it was really windy out and I never felt it sway.

Only after I took delivery of the truck and laid a sizeable down payment in the palm of the Jayco dealer, did I come across a post here that said not to trust the website's claim, and to see this other Ram site with the true numbers. As stated above, payload is anything not on or in your truck at delivery. I called the dealer, who was clueless, but was willing to trade me up to a 3500 to the tune of $13k! Got Rams HQ on the phone, who worked a tolerable trade in to get me a truck to safely take my family and trailer on the road! Loved the 2500, but it simply did not have the payload capacity needed for the 377RLBH. With 150 grand in the truck and trailer and "cargo" that is simply priceless in my family, it's simply not worth the risk.

Please elaborate how the factory helped.

I have towed my 387RDFS with a 2018 cab and chassis 3500HD DRW duramax, 2020 Ram 3500 SRW HO and my 2000 3500 DRW Cummins. All do a great job. I did have to change tires on the 2020 ram due to the factory tires having horribly soft sidewalls. I would say the cab and chassis duramax was the best combo.

Wow, this really got the passions running deep! I have basically the same TV, a 2020 Ram Bighorn, 8' box, 6.7 Diesel, with the HO Aisin transmission. The sticker on the truck lists my cargo weight at 4142. Our 5ther is a 20 Eagle rlok so the pin weight is not as heavy at 1983. I figure with a full tank, and the usual cargo plus the DW and I, we have about a 1K pounds to spare. I first towed this rig with an 18 ram 3500 Tradesman, with the 6.4 Hemi. I don't remember the cargo weight for that rig, but I may have been cutting it closer then. Anyway, it towed the Eagle just fine without any difficulty at all. I am really looking forward to this season with the new rig. Hopefully my mileage will go up! Just thought I would share my experience. Sounds like you have made up your mind, and that's really all the counts in the end. Hope you enjoy your new truck and trailer!

For the DRW folks, any major regrets moving from SRW? Challenges that you ran into but didn't expect? I.e. issues with car wash, bank drive thru, parking garages?

I currently drive a CC SB SRW but I'd like to get a DRW to improve stability when towing the 377. We aren't full timers and the truck will be a daily driver. I'm not overly concerned with moving up in width and length but I'm just concerned that there's something significant that I'm not thinking about that will be an issue....appreciate your thoughts.

That 8 foot box adds about 500 lbs in Cargo Capacity.

I am at 3620 on mine.

We pull our with 2017 Ford F350 DRW LB 4.10 rear. I like the stability of the DRW. The 8' bed makes a big diff with storage for our Yamaha EF3000iS gen.
Never had any issues and can always use the extra steps in the parking lot.

I generally don't park beside another DRW in a parking lot because our mirrors would touch. I also try to park in a spot that doesn't reqiure a tight turn to get out- especially if the car parked beside me gets replaced with a big truck while I am in the store. Drive thru's are tight but doable.

Slurruger - I pull our 377RLBH with a Ram 3500 CC long bed dually - and love it. Very stable and great room in the bed and rear seats. It still amazes me the power and stability when pulling a trailer that big - you don't even feel it behind you. My wife is 5 foot nothing and drives the truck like a champ. I have found a number of touchless car washes (only when I can't wash it) where it fits. And we always park any of vehicles in the back of the lot when shopping anyway so no difference with the truck.
